What is the "Consolidation of Sweden" mod?

It is a simple dejure change mod that adds two kingdoms to Scandinavia: "Norrland" and "Götaland". It also changes the de jure mix of the Swedish duchies. You can see them in the screenshots further below. The aim is to weaken Sweden a little and make it somewhat more interesting to play the king of Sweden, for example the Geatish dukes and counts will be more rebellious, just like the northern Swedish lords. Throughout my personal testing I have found that it does not weaken Sweden too much (They can still hold their own against Denmark or Norway and conquer Finland), it just makes the realm a bit more unstable.

Download?

Right here, or try the mirror in the bottom if it does not work.

Installation?

1. Unpack the files
2. Put files in your CK2/mod folder.
3. Enjoy! :D

Modding?

You are to free to use this mod in your mod if you want. Just give credits, that is generally good manners. :)

This mod does not change a lot of the files, and it can be merged without problems in most cases. However if your mod changes the landed_titles.txt file in common/landed_titles then you will need to know the following... I cut out e_scandinavia (which includes k_denmark, k_norway, k_finland and k_sweden) and put it in the COS.txt file. So simply delete e_scandinavia (and all titles below it) from your landed_titles.txt file to make it work. If the empire does not exist then simply delete k_sweden and you then will have to also edit the COS.txt in common/landed_titles and delete all other titles than k_sweden, k_gotland and k_norrland (remember to keep those titles below these 3 titles). Then it should work. Anything more complex and I should be available in this thread. Happy modding! :D

Changelog?

Version 1.1

- Updated for patch 1.7

- Götaland and Norrland has awesome mööse flags.

Are Götaland and Norrland formable? You should also consider getting Båhuslen/Ranriki out of Västergötaland.

Though personally, to me it seems that Norway is the most unbalanced part of Scandinavia, last 5 vanilla games, Norway ends up controlling Finland, even though I made it unpassable all the way through to the sea so they could only invade from Jemtland to Ängermanland they still got all of Norrland and Finland. It's insane.

Yes. Both are formable as long as you have the territory. I understand that Norway is strong and expands rapidly, but it has more to do with the available CB than the de jure territories. Historically Norway did also launch expeditions all the way to Bjarmia (hence the name) and was very powerful until the plague hit. It would be more prudent, I think, to make a mod that calmed the Holy War CB down until the year 1200. I already have this in my personal mod so I can easily share it.

I think it would be better to also add more provinces.
The aim of this mod was not to add more provinces, although I can certainly understand the desire for such. Personally I have added some extra provinces to Denmark, but alas I do not think I have the necessary knowledge to start making new, accurate, provinces for Sweden. Provinces are also more difficult to merge with other mods than this because it requires some more steps (changing the map again, having the right colours, definitions need fixing, and the steps this mod requires). It also makes the mod more difficult to maintain if Paradox adds more provinces in a patch. For that reason I would prefer not to add more provinces.
