Hi, I was wondering if you would think about creating a bookmark specifically based on the era of William Marshall. He has been dubbed the greatest knight and served four kings during the High English medieval era. It would be a perfect bookmark for your mod. If you have any questions on that region of history contact me on the forum as I would love to help. A fantastic book on him that provides insights into the politics of the age would be THE Greatest Knight By Thomas Asbridge. this era of History is what made me find your mod.

I'll definitely consider it, I've a lot on my plate at the moment so work on the mod is sluggish at best.
I too have that book but I am yet to read it, The bookmarks were planned to try and include as much of the British Isles as possible, with each """""country""""" getting it's own interesting bookmark. I.e. Anglo Saxon Britain - Danish/Norse invasion - Norman Invasion - Conquest of Wales - (attempted) Conquest of Scotland - Norman Invasion of Ireland.
While the bookmarks are good for pointing to specific eras, I was planning to have a thorough enough history so you could drop in whenever and the key characters and players would be around. It is quite time intensive as you can imagine.
As for the other areas of the mod, I've begun overhauling the building systems in combination with government modding to shift the focus to Manorialism etc which is a big task. I'll have more information later on (I'm in the middle of a heavy workload atm so I'm struggling to find time to work on the mod) I'll complete the broad strokes and post on here for input and maybe some fine tweaking.

- You might need to have a mechanic which would include border skirmishes with the Welsh Irish and Scottish realms.
- Marcher Lord honorary title. This was a title given to lords in the welsh region.
- Earl Of March. Title Honorary or titular. A hereditary title that denoted the leading baron or Noble in the Welsh Marcher region.
- Wards expanded. For example, when William Marshall was given the wardship of the house of Lancaster, he could do anything he wanted with her vast estates.
- Sadly women did not have as many rights as they do now and all titles that were inherited by women were passed over to the husband once married.
- Similar to Chinese mechanics France could be included as an off-map power to have more excitement.

Seems fantastic! Your waffle definitely made sense! The Norman invasion of Ireland is around the time period that I was suggesting if ever so slightly earlier. Still, it is better than nothing. Hi, what is mjohnson's late middle ages mod. It seems interesting. Is there a link on steam as I could not find it?
There is only a working old version for patch 2.3.6, based on his older WaroftheRoses mod.
The new variant and upgrade never got close to release.
A sneakpeak got released in 2017 , but that was far from the intended content he aimed for.
The map was huge and nice to look at, but i don't think it was really playable. Maybe to a limited degree.

Yup. Called an alpha, but as far as i recall it worked well.
You can simply download the version in the thread i mentioned and use it on your game on patch 2.3.6.
It had already a new name, but i don't think that version differed much from the war of the roses variant.
I think it was optimised though.
The original WOR mod was pretty heavy on the computer and laggy initally, as far a si recall.

I'm still working out some stuff for buildings at the moment before I get stuck into the history.
I want the mod to be set up to allow for historical context and also sandbox gameplay potential, so the map has been divided to allow for divisions and titles to be made through gameplay even if historically they never were (e.g. Duchy of Leicester). The history bookmarks would set the stage with historic titles in place and several titular titles to emulate the various titles in use at that time. (There's a fair bit of balancing required yet.)
I think I've bitten off a fair bit of work having it stretch from Anglo Saxon era through to 1500...The map divisions don't really allow for the sheer scope of how titles and land ownership changed over that time period. Ireland is a fine example of the complexity.
As for the buildings systems I'm working on, I've got the bare bones of it figured out, like I say, 90% of the holdings will be manors, with their associated buildings - mostly for generating income and maybe a few troops later on in it's development.
There will be a set of buildings for your capital akin to the "Your Personal Castle" mod.
If you manage to acquire enough money you will have the option to construct a stronghold which will replace your manorial holding - fort level and troops. The Anglo Saxons and Norse will have Burhs/Burghs and the Brittonic lot will have Strongholds.
At a certain point you will be able to change your government to medieval feudal and get access to castles which will replace the burhs/strongholds.
I'll probably need assistance in hooking a lot of this up and balancing things to work with the current game mechanics at some point...

I'm not as familiar with modding in CK3 so I might have to learn a bit more before getting any results...
Just wondering if you had any thoughts, concerns etc

Personnally, I think that due to CK2 having a bit more content and you having more experience in modding for ck2 maybe stay. Also, this is one of the last mods that focuses fully on a specific area that is still being developed for ck2
