A decision that at least I as someone with successful brothers can definitely understand in a way. :eek:o
I am very interested how the ascension-events are gonna play out in the end. I can't imagine anything greater than my character being worshipped as a god (as befits him, naturally) after wrecking the balance of the world. Would be "great" if it would also leave your previous god-empire shattered or very very close to splintering, as everything was focused on you. (as in, the heir gets -75 "you're no god!"-relation or somesuch)

In other news, I think I'll actually test out how much the elven reconquest-casus belli helps them out by playing the elves of Rhuannach and Tuar Annwn. Basically being able to holy war someone without calling on their brothers in faith seems rather helpful. I wonder how far I'll get before I meet proper resistance with both.

As for the Gorgon, hehe, my point of view is that he should be the most powerful ruler at game-start and well into the game as well, but we just need to make him focus on Anuire (which he cant take, anyways) - we're well under way with getting this done in the current/next build.

Btw, for the regional modders and anyone else - I'm gonna take a second round of Awnsheighleen (and possible Ersheighleen) portrait making, so post any requests here.

So far I plan to do the Chimaera, the Hag, the Banshee, the Vampire, the Kraken, the Leviathan, the Sphinx, the Siren... and... who else is needed?

How about the Swordhawk? Just need a big dude in full plate armor....but cool looking full plate!

Dauren is pretty save in the beginning. I've added most of the impassable terrain that Iron Gore wanted so it can only be accessed through Danigau. Maybe the CBs have to be amended so that only directly neighbouring provinces can be attacked. After the Gorgon expanded into Danigau he might still attack them. But the plan is to make Dauren a Merchant Republic. Their huge funds compared with enough mercenaries might allow them to permanently keep their de jure land.

Here is the file image on Brecht impassible terrain I suggested for the Great Bay. It funnels the Gorgon through Wierech (Alder), yet runs into a dead end with the great peaks of the Evershruden (into Danigau). This drives him around Khurin-Azur and the Urga-Zai to reach Danigau. The line that separates the dwarves of Khurin-Azur won't work in CK2, so we should ignore that one, as it worked great in D&D since the dwarves were underground ;).

The remainder were supplied by story, in that it shielded the Brechts of the basin from Coullabhie somewhat, Berhagen from the brunt of Molochev (as in canon, the Vos never penetrated in to the basin until after Lake Ladan, and the establishment of Rzlev allowed for invasion of Berhagen), and lastly, shielding Grabentod from the worst weather of the Thaeasian passage.

Awnsheighleen suggestions duly noted and will be included :)

And I like your suggestions for impassable terrain, Iron Gore, I can see that JonStryker has been hard at work implementing them already!

Only major difference to your changes I can spot is that the Dwarves of Kurin-Azur are also blocked on the Gorgon's border, but this I think is as it should be as well.

Second issue with impassable terrain is that when I drew the mountains, I didn't draw them along province borders, so zoomed out, the map looks a little less pretty with blocky lines of impassable terrain on it. If possible, it might be easier to find a way to make the "impassable terrain" graphic invisible, rather than the dark line it is now. Re-drawing mountain to fit province borders is at least going to be extremely difficult for me (I tried, and failed already) so I don't think I'll be spending time getting that to work in the near future.

I may as well post the latest version here for the modding team at least:

v0.45
https://www.sendspace.com/file/v2zro4

It includes the impassable terrain around Brechtur, and also has most of the de jure changes requested in the khinasi lands, and a fancy new island chain south of the Isle of the Serpent as well (again, thanks to JonStryker).

I've also added the 4 missing gods, Cueracen (sp?), Laerme, Elinie, and Nesirie complete with the holy sites as suggested by Iron Gore. Still haven't changed the holy sites for the other gods, however. But yes, this means that anyone can add these new religions to their regions - just be sure to spell them exactly as they are spelled out in the common/religions file as you use them on character or history/province .txts.

Also added a "Gheallie Sidhe" heresy for the nature religion; they're the only ones who can raid now, normal nature-worshippers will be of a more peaceful inclination!

And don't mind the missing/black Kingdom flags for certain titular titles... not sure why they're not showing up, actually, the flag appears to be in the folder... but I'll get it sorted :)

Well, there's el-Sheghul in the Black Spears Tribes who is just like the Magian, except he is bound to the Shadow World and cannot exert full control over his presence in Cerilia so he is handicapped to a great extent. I detailed him in my work on the Docandragh region, but it would be cool if you could find some kind of portrait similar to that of the Magian for him. Its not a biggie since el-Sheghul is, supposedly, hiding his presence, but if you have spare time, assigning him another lich image would be cool.

If you give him culture = Wraith he will have a nazgul portrait, that could be an easy work around :)

Check the Anuirean files for Guilder Kalien, I gave him Elf portrait but anuirean culture :p

The elven reconquest was meant to be "only" for forest regions, right? As I was able to claim it on arctic lands and some mountains bordering forests as well in/as Tuar Annwn.
Also, I think the game somehow confused the elven and dwarven infertility traits, as at least one of my courtiers had three children with his wife in about 24 years. Just nitpicking, though. It's quite easy to become at least moderately powerful as Tuar Annwn. Will definitely try them out once more when/if Lonhaldar finds the time to make those shadow-elf portraits.
And amusingly, in this game Tuarhievel did the same as in our multiplayer and somehow took over Dhoesone. Or the other way around. Quite fascinating to see.

Reading about Tuar Annwn, shouldn't they have a Shadow World "bonus" per se? It says that enemies would never go into Tuar Annwn itself due to the large connection with the shadow world, and I think this could be played out as this: give a defensive bonus "army" (either event or modifier) whenever Tuar Annwn is in a defensive war (offensive would be too OP)... what do you guys think about that?

Nah, I don't think that is really necessary. At the moment, only Drachenward would be able to attack me with any chance of success, and the religious attrition and forest-combat-bonus can be reinterpreted as shadow-world-attacks and home territory helping out.
The elves still need to be somehow beatable, really. I wrecked armies with almost twice my numbers because I was in a forest.

Is this strange human/Elven blood relation set up there canon? Looks as if everything is set up to allow them to unify. But why? Couldn't find anything about it.

Off topic but in a PBEM campaign years ago where I was playing Tuarhievel I was trying to do exactly the same? I seem to remember that in the canon materials there is mention of a level of kinship between the Elven Prince and the Half-Elf Baroness.

Yes, they are half-siblings. Their mother was the former queen of Tuarhievel although it's not intended in the setting that they could unify easily since the elf/human relations are always stained and cannot be changed easily on account of the rulers being related.

I. E. the commoners hatte each other just the same.

Its cannon that the prince of tuarhievel and the baroness of Dhosone are half brother and sister the previous Baron of Dhonsone was the previous Queen of Tuarhaviels 2nd husband. described in the Domain sourcebook of Tuarhievel. Rhuobhe's connection is also is also cannon as he is a member of House Llyrandor. The previous prince (deceased) "disconnected" Rhuohbhe from the inheriting his titles and claims when he took the throne. Whether this disconncect should survive his death may be up to debate. I'm sure the strong Ghilehe Sidhe factions in Tuarhaviel would support him. I've never seen him actually inherit as the current prince and baroness usually have heirs that displace him pretty quickly.

On a modding question is there a tool you have to run to get the changes in provincedef.xls to take effect? I'm setting the capitol and religion for the Sirens realm and would like to check my work before sending it in.

Bottom right in my signature ;)

Not very intuitive but capitals are set by using the first province for every title. To change a capital of a duchy the line has to be moved up. For setting the capital of a kingdom the same thing applies although it is best for readability to move the whole duchy (i.e. all provinces of it) around. The same thing also applies for empires.

For our purposes, I think it's easier if you just send me an updated version of the provinceDEF file, Tamman :)

We'll regenerate landed_titles and history files as needed using the map filler tool.

So just go to the depository, grab the latest version of provinceDEF, and then I'll upload it and/or merge from my end and your work will be integrated next time we run the mapfiller tool.

When we get the dark elf/ shadow elf portraits, I'll make some special mechanics for them. A bonus army is not the most elegant solution, but certainly the ShadowWorld religion they will have will give pagan attrition, and I may make some unique shadow magic spells for that culture/religion as well to simulate that they have that exra capability - balanced out by some other negative factors, which I'll have to think of.
