Since a CK2+ compatability patch was made by mate0815, I'd like to ask permission to integrate this mod into CK2+. I really like the visual improvements this mod makes.

Why does the cumans and the turkish have no faces? I use the one for CK2Plus.

Some parts of the mod require Mongol Faces DLC. I won't be integrating those parts if I get permission to integrate this mod.

I'm experiencing major issues trying to integrate latest version into CK2+: If I use BLC's interface/portaits.gfx, the game crashes 90% of the time if I alt-tab out. I've tried the fixed file, but no difference. The issue is not due to bad integration, as I've tried using completely unaltered BLC files and the same thing happens.

EDIT: I also get the crashes playing with only BLC and no other mods, so the issue definitely seems to be in BLC.

I was getting the same type of error on my own mod, and the problem lied with the layering order in portraits.gfx. It references which files are shown in what order, at the end for each graphical culture's section. If the list references a file that isn't there, the game crashes. I had references to a headgear_mid file I didn't use and had removed. It crashed when accessing the portraits or alt-tabbing. Check those and remove or # tag the line for non-existing files.

Any way to detect for non-existant files other than to just check each single line in the file?

Have you run the character database thru the Validator? There are a lot more bugs than that I'm afraid.

Fair enough, I didn't see that one come up on the validator but I could just have missed it.

It is. He's using my helmet from my Cuman portrait mod. The Vaegir helmet has a hinged front. I made the helmet in two versions in order to satisfy separate tastes. Here, he's repurposed it for his Persians.

Ah. I love most of your work, but this one looks really odd IMO - it doesn't appear to be connected to the helmet so it gives the impression of floating freely in the air.

Shaytana there was a discussion about BLC in the CK2+ thread and memory issues caused by palette swapping. Themendios (author of performance mods) made an interesting hypothesis about memory buildup issues with BLC:

LAA trip report: it does help a lot but eventually (hours) it runs out of memory again causing the transparent UI bug.

I really think it's probably the palette swapping helmets etc from BLC - if there's a version without it etc I bet it would work fine.

If you look at someone at war, they normally have the same metallic helmet. In the new one, the helmet is blue for france, grey for HRE and so on. I don't know how Shaytana did it as a mod but in execution I'd guess that it's creating a new .bmp in memory for each one and that's what's causing the leak.

Sounds great Shaytana. Too bad about less diversity but even my computer (which is quite good) is having issues handling BLC at the moment, so it seems to be an unfortunate necessary.

The memory usage seems to have gone down ~100mb, from 1.6gb to 1.5gb (compare to 1.1 without BLC). Still quite memory-hungry, but the real issue was the memory leaks so need to test more before I can tell you if those are fixed.

8c shaved off 25mb of memory, down to 1.42gb.

8clite took off another 75, at 1.35gb, which means BLC is now only using 250mb of memory instead of 500mb (as it did before your tweaks).

Game definitely seems to be running smoother with lite. Laptop doesn't get as warm either. I'll be using that version from now on.

The thing that's odd about it is that the standard version initially runs fine, but after a while it seems like the game starts to chug. So far I haven't run into that with lite. Considering I have a 8gb RAM laptop and the 2gb fix, I wonder if there isn't something else going on here (like palette swap memory leaks that themendios was talking about).

If I were you, I'd wait a few days and see how things play out before going in with the razor again. If nobody is complaining, it probably means the current memory load is okay.

Finally, I don't know if I could live without the cuman hats. Please don't get rid of the cuman hats.

I was having issues on a Win7 8gb RAM high end laptop... so I don't think it's just Win XP users.

No issues at all with 8c lite though.
