That's okay. It's only playable in the very broadest sense anyway, meaning you can load up a game and select a character. It doesn't have any events or decisions yet and is still super buggy.
Expanded the map to south-central Chile so we could have a more historical Tawantinsuyu. I also split up the 2 (previously 1) culture in the Andes into 7 distinct cultures. I split up the "southamerican" culture group into (so far) 3 groups--Andean, Arawak and the rest, still under the placeholder "south american" name until I can split them up too.
Here are some pics. I think it's looking pretty good. I've made progress on the 1066 start date, but nothing major since I spent the day mostly learning how to change the map.
I finished up mapping the de-jure lands of the andes mountains (everything within de-jure Tawantinsuyu). I split off some land in northeast peru that the empire never held, and which was Piro (Arawak)-cultured and gave it to the Arawak Empire de-jure for now. When I work on that area, i'll shift everything around again cause the current de-jure Arawak Empire is really big.
De-Jure Duchies
De-Jure Kingdoms
Tawantinsuyu
I also worked some more on the 1066 start, setting up some tribes in the north-east and far south of what would become Tawantinsuyu.
Independent Realms
That's all for today. Tomorrow i'll mostly be filling out the 1066 start in the andean region.
This is awesome Thobewill! I love what you did with South America. I was never good enough with the map to do that much. I also think we could cut down on some of the provinces in the plains areas and combine small ones. This would also save time coming up with names for all the baronies and assigning characters.
I really don't mind doing it. I think it'd be fine to leave the province-count as-is. It's still way less than vanilla CK2. I do it in my free time and genuinely enjoy it. I'm not very experienced with event coding and decisions and such though but I'll learn. I love the idea for the mod and I definitely want to see it continued.
I'm gonna add a bunch more provinces in south america too, specifically along the amazon river and in argentina. These were areas of large-scale settlement and civilization and it'd be good to see it represented as such. We'll make the amazon and its tributaries navigable and give the cultures of the region the ability to sail down.
Before doing anything flavorwise like coming up with unique barony names and doing really heavy research I'd like to see the map filled in at the most rough, basic level and playable with randomly generated characters (esp with the 1066 start date, since we know basically no specifics about this time period). Then we could go in a craft every area.
Event-wise I guess we could import all of the culture-non-specific vanilla events and then get to work on individual regions and flavor and stuff.
I'm experienced with making flags and stuff so I'll go through once I finish up south america and assign flags to the empires, duchies, kingdoms, etc...
I reduced the diplomatic range substantially. The lack of horses makes it infeasible for these societies to communicate long-distance. I've got it set to about the distance from Cuzco to panama, but I may reduce it further or increase it depending on the need and on playtesting.
Other ideas include
double or triple speed cultural assimilation and low requirements for titular titles to ensure that everything is very fluid
at 1066 start date, all holdings outside of the andes kingdoms, the future haudenosaunee, and the missisippi would be tribal, further allowing us to model the fluid nature of power
tawintinsuyu should be a special kind of empire with a lot of flavor and unique mechanics. when it's formed there should be a new religion that forms ("Inka" vs generic andean) which has Sapa Inka as the head of the religion and which should spread throughout the empire. you should be able to force provinces to convert
some way to model the system of civil service the inka had would be great
something unique with technology. i'd like to have the tarascans in with their metal weapons and i don't yet know how we would represent that
most religions should start unreformed, outside of the andes, because religion was not very organized outside of the larger kingdoms
the aztecs should be a tribal empire rather than a feudal one. this would better represent the triple alliance, as they would have to call their allies into battle rather than extracting levies
i'd like to see if it's possible to create a federation or league system to allow tribes to confederate peacefully as they did in the northeast under haudenosaunee
smallpox and hepatitis and such when the europeans come
and a lot more
so yeah i'm pretty enthusiastic about this. thank you so much for allowing me to work with you on this. i'm learning a lot about modding in general while also getting to geek out a bit and learn a lot about native cultures.
Niiice! I've received 2 big 2000 page books about the history of Peru from my parents, so I wanted to offer my help/services. I could help as soon as my university stress normalizes
The download on page 11 is compatible with 2.2 and probably the beta patch too. I'll be releasing an updated version soon. It's only playable in the rough sense though.

On another note, I have a minor suggestion: Leif Eriksson was Catholic when he traveled to Vinland, so the Leif part of Vinland should probably be Catholic instead of Germanic.

Yeah, but I tried loading the old version of the mod from the zip file on page 1 and the flags aren't working either and are jumbled too, which is utterly baffling cause they used to. I even tried reinstalling the game and still nothing.

Try going into into the Crusader kings folder in My documents. Then go into 'Apocalypto' and deleting the gfx folder. I'm far from sure if that's the problem but it might help.
