In the far lands of the Caucus, a ancient realm is stirring from her slumber...
Amazonia is returning to CK2!

This mod was originally designed and created by Careful Plum, But they have declared that they no longer wish to upkeep the Mod.

Therefore, I, SaphireSeas Brings you:
The Amazon mod for CK2

https://github.com/SaphireSeas/amazon_CK2_2.5_2

(V1.1.1)
Corrected my blunder and released the correct version.
(V1.1)
African Amazon Kingdom in the Canarias, currently Berber culture.
Added some cultural variance for some provinces.
Updated for CK2 2.5

Features so Far: (v.1)
New Amazonian Religion (And Group) with:
Special buildings and retinues.
A Religious Head
A Holy Order
Conquest cb on non female rulers
Men cannot hold many council positions
Basic mate system
Upcoming in v.1.1
Added amazons on the canaries
Amazons may now navigate major rivers
Current Languages: English, German

Previously this mod required the Better Gender Laws mod, but I have altered it so this is not the case. I am unsure of the two mods compatibility.

Feel free to post suggestions on this thread, and any bug reports as well.

Do not need BGL, As far as I am aware. (and may be non compatible given some changes)
I *think* It is fixed now.
Male b_landholders currently abdicate, nothing else.
You are Welcome:)
However bad your English is, Whatever you speak as a primary language I almost certainly speak Worse than you do English. I'm just thankful I don't have to attempt to speak spanish or German and make a complete fool of myself. In short - You are most certainly forgiven!

just one minor problem.

Themyscira, the City State of the Amazons is located on the Terme River.

Putting it pretty much between Sinope and Trebizond. In Armeniacon
What do you what me to do about this? I have Inherited this mod so I am open to suggestions.
The reasons for placing them in the Caucus is unknown to me, but there were amazon myths coming from the Scythians as well, so I asume that was the reason.
I will certainly put a holy site there on the next update now that you have mentioned that.
But I do not particularly want to start the amazons off in the heart of the Byzantine Empire. I would rather let some expansion happen before running into the Empire.

A starting county in pagan Africa would be awesome, since they were supposed to originate from there.
I'll consider it. I will say right now it will probably be in d_tunis or d_tripolitania or the Canaries, assuming I add it. Unless you be more specific where you would desire it, given those are the places my preliminary research shows up.

Looks good, I have some suggestions for the Amazonian religion:

  • Lock them into using Enatic succession
  • Enable Prepared Invasions, Raiding, and River movement
  • Have Amazonian rulers endure both a peace penalty and a more severe short reign penalty
In my personal mod, I modded in the Amazons and in my game sessions, they seem to become the Mediterranean version of the Vikings. As a further suggestion, you could also enable an Amazon version of Holmgang (duels) and mod in some Amazon mercenary companies.

They are locked into Enatic - They recieve an event which changes their gender law if they don't if possible, I'll remove this and make it work like standard.
2 On my list now.
3 Not sure about the Peace penalty. What would an Amazonian Utopia be........ Peace. By comparison germanic.......
4 Duels I'll think about, Mercenary companies: Are indeed sorely needed.

Many thanks for your suggestions!:)
Well the Canaries seems great imho.
Than the Canaries.....

no need to specify the empire, but I was not aware at the time so

I put the same system for the election of Cardinal Amazonian religion to be sure to have an elected priestess, I put a location with "vespale" ect was finally right this mod was a small playground and experiment for me

What do you what me to do about this? I have Inherited this mod so I am open to suggestions.
The reasons for placing them in the Caucus is unknown to me, but there were amazon myths coming from the Scythians as well, so I asume that was the reason.

The amazon culture is "Sarmatian" in this mod, the Sarmatians were successors to the Scythians and also probably inspirations for Amazon legends. The Alans were related to the Sarmatians, which is why I assume the original version of the mod starts the Amazons in Alania.

I was fiddling around with an update for this mod myself. I made them nomads, which you may or may not want to do, but which allows turning the event troops down to a somewhat more reasonable number. Some suggestions:

"has_character_flag" is misspelled in event amareturn.7 in Amazon_birth_events, line 321

You can pull out the Amazon events into a separate file in the on_actions folder and not change the original. You can do the same with the holy site province locations and the landed_title file. This improves compatibility with future patches and other mods.

If you want to keep the "has_consort" thing (which may not be necessary with the pregnancy event), instead of having a trait and a bunch of events to manage it, you can turn it into a triggered_modifier which will automatically be applied and removed by the game, something like:

Code:
has_consorts = {
    potential = {
        is_ruler = yes
        is_female = yes
        religion = hellenic_amazon
    }

    trigger = {
        any_lover = {
            has_minor_title = title_amazon_consort
            is_female = no
            count = 2
        }
    }

    icon = 39

    fertility = 0.15

    active = yes
}

I made them nomads
I may make a nomadic realm sometime, but not yet, and not the standard realm.
"has_character_flag" is misspelled in event amareturn.7 in Amazon_birth_events, line 321
I'll deal with that for the next release.
Amazon events into a separate file in the on_actions folder and not change the original. You can do the same with the holy site province locations and the landed_title file.
Sure, I can do that for the on actions, YOU CAN DO THAT FOR HOLY SITES? you mean putting b_jerusalem in a separate file doesn't screw up the de-jure situation? That's good to know.

Holy sites aren't in baronies any more (as of 2.4.1), they're in counties, and you can just put:
Code:
c_jerusalem = {
   holy_site = catholic
}
in a separate file in landed_titles without affecting the rest of the code for c_jerusalem.

Is this a bug?:
I was playing as the King of Georgia as a test run and I could still have mates, despite me not being Amazonian.
Also, for some reason, Amazonian leaders are extremely reluctant to have husbands.
Amazonian succession changes houses all the time for the simple reason that the previous queen had no husband, and no children.

Note: I was playing on 2.4.4. Only other mods I had on was BlueDuke and Novus Graphicus. Additionally, I had way of life off since the old version crashed with it and I was unsure if this one would do the same.

I'll have a look at this. As for the marriage, I am of the opinnion the devs have made some change to marriage mechs so I'm not sure I can do anything about that.
