I vaguely recall there being some discussion about the possibility of there being a group of extremist survivalist dominating chunks of the Pacific Northwest. I don't know if this particular aspect has been brought up before, but if such a thing were added, it would be a great way to reference yet another classic post-apocalyptic work in much the same was as the Catholic New Rome being in Missouri being an homage to A Canticle for Leibowitz.
That's pretty much the whole rason for it having been discussed.
Unfortunately, Pat Frank's "Alas, Babylon" doesn't seem to have had any influence on Florida.
If it you feel it should, push for reasons why. Maybe acouple barony name changes, but aside from that I can't see much applicability myself.
Yes, the most recent version has Mexico and all of Central America down to Nicaragua, and Baja California was recently mapped as well. Unfortunately, we're trying to sort out these CTD issues that people have been having, especially the ones who can't get the mod to load.
Beta 2.2.0.2 claims to have fixed the CTD issue on total conversion mods. Was this the problem you guys were having?
Probably. We're going to do some further testing to find out, and then we still have to fix the issue some people are having where the mod just won't load at all.
Is there some way to bring back the americanist president if the title has been destroyed because the holder lost all holdings?
Mod still doesn't load, for me, on 2.2.0.2. It apparently crashes while creating flags.
I never read the book, but Eastern Washington is great terrain for a horse-based army like in the movie. Montana and Wyoming as well. Idaho's mountains would make it hard for a single horde to dominate both sides.
Two or three steppe style powers would do well. Also the region has some large indian reservations that could spice things up. Considering how tense race relations can get in our non apocalyptic times, I could easily see a couple of 'Cowboy' culture survivalist powers striving for control against a Blackfeet-Cheyenne alliance.
Religion would be tricky, but I could easily see an Americanist offshoot dominating the 'white' communities. People there tend to be highly, even aggressively, patriotic, even the ones who hate the government. I can see the plains Indians practicing a syncretic Christian and shamanist faith (quite a few already do). For extra drama, both could have the black hills/Mt Rushmore as a holy site. Give the Indians a decision to destroy it that provokes an Americanist holy war.
Dang, surprised this hadn't come up before. If anything, the whole cowboy thing would be better suited as a culture type than a religion type (Maybe a family if it gets too blobby with Desperado being a more southern mix). Since the construct is more a way of life than a belief system. As for religion: maybe, possibly a hodge-podge of faiths could call the west home. Otherwise, there is a somewhat recent movement that may be worthy of drawing some inspiration from called Cowboy Churches.

but anyway, Cowboy shirts are something that should be in the game for most cultures. They're just brilliant.
And the middle ages having extravagant fashion in bright, garish colours works well with many types of cowboy shirts too as they'd match vanilla stuff

I still demand the Cleveland Province gets an extra Barony based off the city of Bedford. Bedford was founded only ten years after Cleveland, and had the oldest continuously owned furniture-factory in the United States. Brecksville should not be getting in this mod if Bedford doesn't

I was commenting on the new wrinkle of cowboy being a culture type not a religion, as so many had discussed before about Gun-worship and Cowboy Gods. I think I can still see the dead horse in the corner that was beaten from earlier on that topic. As I see it, cowboy being a religion would be missing the point, as it's a way of life closest to maybe Confucianism/Taoism, than anything with a deity structure. Being a cowboy is more about who you are in the world of the living rather, than what you will become in the afterlife. And on top of that, you clearly could then be any flavor of cowboy from Norse to Catholic to Occultist.
