I think there should be some sort of 'Church of the Avocado' in California; worshiping the Holy Guacamole.

I'd usually get offended but damn if that isn't one of the greatest Heresy ideas I've ever heard.

Heresy of an agarian fertility cult? rejecting the adoration of the seasons and the harvest gods of fruit, love and grain for a syncretically adopted monotheism from the infidels that surround the mother valley absolute adoration of the perfect fruit, manifest divine food, processed by the creator and spreadable from the go, proof of the gods love for humanity even after the great blight, the link between the humble farmer and divine forgiveness and so the sole physical object worthy of mans worship.

California would be golden for a fertility/agricultural religion, particularly in the south, where sometimes the god/dess who dwells within the buried remains of the Old Cities, sleeping within the Buried Hills bring good rains and mountains snows, and other times drought and earthquakes.

Hey all, new guy here. Just downloaded this a couple weeks ago and currently loving it. I'm not good at all at the tech stuff, but I'd love to help throw around ideas. I've got a little experience in damn near everything, and if anything, I'm decent at spitballing. Alright, lets make this awesome. :)

And, for my first point, a little bit on my current state of Arizona. I like the idea of having a neo-Roman Empire in PHX, but one has to keep in mind that Phoenix is a thoroughly unsustainable city that only thrives due to modern tech. Make of that what you will.

Also, if such a faction is presented, it would be interesting to counterpoint it with a Native American faction in northern AZ, since the population here is nearly 40% Navajo/Hopi.

Lastly, this should be some kind of basis for the Phoenix flag. Its everywhere downtown.

Hi I just started using this mod and love it so far. However I do have a few comments/criticisms and questions on it.

First: Why did you make Occultists generic pagans? It's sort of annoying that the religion can't be reformed. Also I believe that the Brit and Appalachian Occultists should be heresies. You could call the New England branch Lovecraftian.

Second: it really bugs me that Nogad is a strong unplayable theocracy. Perhaps you could reduce it's size so it's not as powerful?

Third: I don't get the culture groups you made. I don't really think Yankee and Maritimer should be in different groups. New England and the Maritime culture are pretty closely related both historically and in present day. A lot of people have relatives in Nova Scotia. (I live in MA) I think the Canadian group would be better served for Ontario west ward. Perhaps put Hudsonian, Yankee, and Maritimer in one group?

Hi I just started using this mod and love it so far. However I do have a few comments/criticisms and questions on it.

[ ... ]

1. In the github version, the British became Thelemic and the Appalachians became "Revelationist", or snake worshipping, mystical heretics (this is a complete generalization). Also in that edition of the mod, the Occultists can reform. I do agree that they are a little bland at the moment, however.

2. It is sort of weird that Massachusetts is almost devoid of any playable characters. Plymouth might be, but they usually get eaten by Boston or Nogad pretty quickly. I agree with you on that.

3. As someone who has visited Canada many times, and as someone who also lives in New England, I can tell you that the cultures between New England and the Maritimes is different enough (as is) that several hundred years of isolation would just further the split. Same goes for Hudsonian, though that should be a no-brainer.

I don't mean to rag on you. You seem fine enough, haha.

On a separate, but related topic, I'm quite enjoying the addition of the Acadiens!

Hi, thanks for the response. On the point of your New England and Maritime culture being different, yeah they are. But I would argue that New England and the Maritimes are more similar to each other than the Maritimes are to Ontario and New England is to Michigan. As for the isolation, they would constantly be in contact with the borders and the fact that both are very naval focused regions. I believe the Great Lakes areas would diverge away from the Coastal areas much faster than New England and the Maritimes would.

I took a quick look at the newer version and it does look better with the Acadiens.

Speaking as an Ontarian dating a Maritimer, I can say that Ontario is more like other Great Lakes cultures than it is the Maritimes, which are closer to New England. Still huge differences, but the cultural similarities run with the industrial and economic similarities, which are north-south bands in Canada. Maritimes are like New Englanders, Ontarians are like Illinoisians, etc. If you want to have a "Canadian" culture group, split Ontarian into 2 groups, one of which is grouped with Great Lakes cultures based along Lake Ontario and up to Ottawa, the bit of Ontario that is in the current GitHub version, dunno what it would be called, and have the outer reaches of Ontario be a different culture in a culture group with the rest of Canada as far as the Rockies. I think that BC on the other side of the Rockies would be the same culture as far south as San Fran. Maybe in the same group as a Rockies culture that also stretches south. Then you'd have a Canadian Plains culture for eastern Alberta, Saskatchewan, and western Manitoba, and a Canadian Muskeg/Forest culture for western Manitoba and northern Ontario, and a Canadian Tundra culture for the northern border of the areas if you need an extra culture.

As I, Enlil, am neither an Ontarian or a Maritimer, I cannot help there, but during my adventures I had discovered that there is a Celto-Kentuckyan culture in Northern Kentucky. It is truly the most beautiful thing I have ever seen, and wish to one day see Celtucky.

Are somewhere Muslim or Turkish majorities in the USA? I would suggest an Ottoman Empire! The current heir of the Ottomans lives in America...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bayezid_Osman

pub_second-largest_state_a20373a68f3a69255df6c6ff99ec7df6.jpg

Additionally quick wiki search for largest number of muslims in cities (in order greatest to least).
New York 70k in 2000 (it's probably lower now)
Dearborn Michigan (30k)
Los Angeles (26K)
Paterson New Jersey
Philidelphia
Jersey City

As for Turkish 'Majority' the largest percentage of Terks seems to be in NJ and NY but the largest percentage is only 2.5 and that's in a town with 3k people.

BTW. A Ottomon like empire I'm fine with but 'Ottomon Empire' no.

Speaking, of Empires, more de jure ones should be on the way. Sorry if this is in github I'm stuck on the mediafire.

For Ottomans, yeah, that's be sweet. Like a religious revival into a random Tuskegeean culture province with plenty of event troops and a William the Bastard tier leader in the Ottoman dynasty to carve out a nice chunk of the map to prepare for a new age of Jihad.

As for the Sonora and Mojave deserts, they should act as attrition Steppes, so that the affairs of East and West do not mingle profusely. The religion of the Phoenix/Legion Empire would be able to move troops freely due to religion, culture, or whatever. And yes, that symbol for Phoenix is everywhere in the city.

Ofaloaf asked about impassable terrain in the American West a while back, and I didn't see a reply. Not an expert, but as an amateur student of geology I'd say the Rockies and Sierra Nevada would mostly be impassable (some passes, where major roads cross them) and in between (the basin and range province, where what ridges there are tend to be discontinuous) would mostly be passable, with the exception of major canyons (Grand Canyon, Snake River Gorge, a few others.) I'm not sure about the Coastal Ranges and Cascades. At a guess, the Cascade should be mostly impassable.

On the topic of that. are there going to be any wastelands in the desert? I assume there are going to be some up in the tundra, but any down south?

As a sidenote: Is some sort of 'European Invasion' planned/already implemented?
This was stated on THIS PAGE
1. In the github version, the British became Thelemic
There is already a British invasion in 2800. This question gets asked every 2 pages. So notalbanian please put:
Invasion
British-added
Brazilian

Though people still ask about if you are going to expand the map, but that's only ever 10 pages.
