I'm of course a complete novice at modding, but couldn't that be solved simply by having, aside from being Texan/Tejano culture, several key counties around Texas you have to hold to create that titular empire? In vanilla CK2, for example, you need to own the counties in d_thrace in addition to being Catholic to form the Latin Empire, ensuring that a Latin Empire doesn't form in like Bohemia or Iberia.
The titular empires are on the old CK2+ model, where they're supposed to be formable by anyone of that culture regardless of where exactly they are.

I don't quite get where the titular empires are coming from. I'm currently in a game as a Rostmann, Rust Cultist, Tycoon of Michigan (soon to also have Superior, Ohio, and Chicagoland under my control). What requirements are there to create the empire?

Do you have over 100 holdings in your realm??

You have to have 100 holdings (baronies or counties) and 3 kingdom titles.

In game terms, holdings are baronies, not counties. (The county capital is a barony held by the count.)

Is it possible for there to be a Quebecois name for the Kingdom of New England? It bothers me that successful Ursuline crusades still call it New England, when Quebec is hardly known for it's love of L'Anglophonie. Something like Nouvelle France might be a bit more appropriate.

I got the mod loaded but I can't seem to get any characters to appear.
The north america map comes up, divided in counties, but there are no characters.

When I press random character, I get nothing. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance... very n00b on Ck2 mods.

My current observe game was THIS close to a AI controlled 4 Kingdom Canadian Superblob

* Kingdom of New England was taken over by Ursaline crusaders.
* Gradually, under Queen Nancy the Great, the Crusader state takes Quebec, and makes that their primary.
* Quebec absorbs the Kingdom of Hudsonia
* Who Queen Nancy's husband? King Bill the Wicked of Ontario.
* They have only one child, Princess Ursula
* Queen Nancy forms the Quebecois Empire, twice the size of the Holy Columbia Empire
* Bill the Wicked, consumed by the beckoning power of the new Empire has Ursula, his daughter, marry his younger brother By to ensure the new Empire is control by his dynasty
* Ursula and By have a baby boy...named Bill.
* Bill the Wicked has covered every angle and crossed every t, A 4 Kingdom blob will be ruled by his house, and eventually even a grandson/nephew bearing his name
* Nancy the Great dies and Ursula becomes Empress
* Bill, aged 70, takes a new bride, 22
* Get her pregant
* Bears a son, Naismith.

All he had to do was fucking die and yet somehow he snatched defeat from the jaws of utter victory. GG Bill.

Well, atleast his house will rule Québec eventually, and Empress Ursula will certainly have a claim to Ontario when Bill dies. A claim she will probably be capable of pressing, since Bill is almost dying and little Naismith was just born.

Love the mod so far. Keep up the epic work!

As a regional ambassador, I can't help but suggest a few changes.

1) The naval province labeled "Minnesota Point" is somewhat inaccurate. Minnesota Point is a large sandbar that separates the St. Louis and Superior Bays from Lake Superior. Locally, the general area that encompasses this province is better known as the "Head of the Lakes".

2) There is a canal that bisects the Keweenaw Peninsula - The Keweenaw Waterway. Although as it stands, adding it wouldn't prove much of a strategic advantage in the naval aspect, but would potentially be a significant barrier against an invading land force if it was maintained.

3) Since there seems to be some inspiration for cultures being taken from modern day regionalism. A more fitting term for Nords may be Northlanders, as the area West of the UP of Michigan and North of Eau Claire, WI is regionally called the Northland. This is currently reinforced by the local news outlets and might persist as a means of cultural identification "After the End".

4) Not a serious suggestion, but Isle Royale as the seat of Copperland? C'mon! I could totally see Houghton, MI home of Michigan Tech being a great base of power.

Once again, love the mod so far. Keep up the epic work!

As a regional ambassador, I can't help but suggest a few changes. [...]
Regarding your points,

1. I'll make a note and try to remember to get this in for the next commit.

2. I spent a year at Michigan Tech myself, and am acquainted with the area. The waterway was visible from my dorm window-- yes, it could provide a barrier, but abount as much a barrier as any river or channel would for defense. I think it's not possible to have a river run from a body of water to the same body of water in rivers.bmp. Having a river-defined sea province bisecting Keweenaw province doesn't really do anything, and I'm not willing to split Keweenaw into two smaller counties at the moment. So, with those ruled out, I'm content to have that stand as it is for the time being.

3. Sure, I'm game for giving that a go.

4. There's no defined capital of Copperland. The choices AI makes as to where to establish a capital are beyond my ken and well into the realm of the esoteric and mystical.

Right on, thanks for the prompt and fair response, Ofaloaf. Had a feeling the waterway idea still wasn't tenable, as the game engine isn't 100% awesome, but still allows you to do most of what you want to do now. Glad to see what I'll count as 2.5 of my points accepted. I am eager to see rowdy drunken Northlanders pillage the Great Lakes and beyond.

I think it's weird how close the cultural divisions seem to be to modern day America. Despite a timelapse of 700 years there doesn't seem to have been any migrations or invasions going on. I think the start date should be pushed back to maybe 150-300 years after the apocalypse.

I wanted the cultural stuff to still be recognizable, and 2666 seemed like an appropriate year for a post-apocalyptic setting. Realistically*, cultures would shift around, but then folks would repeatedly ask why Dixie culture is in Kansas while Yankees are in Georgia and Californians are in Montana (or whatever) and nuts to that, I want as much of it to be as self-explanatory as possible.

*Realistically, everybody would be dead.

It would be pretty self explanatory if all the old cultures were still in place and there were new migratory cultures blurring the map. Maybe make a new culture for the confederacy for instance and give it only a few scattered counties.

With a long dark age the old cultures would presumably stay in place and just be displaced by the migrant cultures.

Quick proposal: Imperial level title for the New York Area? Empire State. Simple, fits well, and elegant.

The Empire State is already available as a titular title, I think. Someone posted a screencap of it a few pages ago.
