I second this. A dev diary explaining the features of the various religions would be rather helpful.

Maybe we should set up a wiki or something with additional information. I know when I play games I like to have as much information as possible about the mechanics, but it can be a lot of work to collect and maintain documentation.

PLEASE list the current (including github alpha) checksum in the opening post. I love this mod and I've spent the last few hours trying to introduce a friend to it via multiplayer. But we can't get the damn checksums right!

Please tell us which one we should be looking for.

i'd say 0.3 for the official patch.

No, he means the 4-letter CheckSum that the game generates based on your files running, displayed in the bottom left corner of the main menu iirc. If two people have the exact same files running, then they should have the exact same CheckSum. It's a way of making sure that your install went correctly.

Problem is, wouldn't it change based on what Portrait mods you have up?

If the portrait mods change cultures, then the checksum changes. If they only change the gfx and interface stuff, the checksum is unchanged.

A quick bug report, the province of Manistique in Soo doesn't have a port, as in literally there isn't a port for ships to spawn at.

There's alot of psuedohistory about the norse in that corner of america, which lead in the early part of the last century to a good number of landmarks, statues and fake heritage being built to celebrate it. The premise is that some tribe in the devastated future came across that, believed in and in desperately needing an indentity to make their lives mean something in the ash and smoke of a dying world, adopted it to entertain, raise morale and pass the time which then generations later you get people who believe that they are vikings and do viking things in earnest as they were raised as norsemen.

tbh it was mostly that I didn't want Christians everywhere, the upper Midwest has a lot of Scandinavian sorts (Yoopers are Finnish, but I'm painting with broad strokes here), and hey, there's even the Minnesota Vikings, I wonder what sort of paganism would be most apt for that corner of the country.

Maybe a norse like viking based religion, yet centered around christianity? god, jesus etc or some variant, seenig as most of america was indeed christian, just throwing idea out there lol.

It's actually a really good reason in itself, we're already overwhelmed by christians.

There doesn't need to be a concrete reason though, as said before, not having the whole map as Christian is enough a motive. Occultism was probably added because well... Lovecraft Country, and IIRC, Lovecraft's home town in Rhode Island is an Occultist holy site. It's not like New Englanders are Cthulhu cultists IRL.

If St. Paul Airport survived the apocalypse without being *too* looted, it would be an easy mistake for a ragtag band of second-generation survivors to make. Practically everything in there has a Viking on it - and not just the obvious football-related merchandise, either.
