FAQ

Q: Why is the game crashing when I click "Single Player"?
A: Most likely because the mod hasn't been updated for the current version of CK2. Check to see if the version listed on the download link is the right one. If not, try the latest Github version.

Q: Which modules do I use?
A: Always enable the main After the End module. If you have the African Faces DLC, enable the African Faces module. If you have Sunset Invasion, enable the Sunset Invasion module (don't worry, this won't lead to an invasion, it just allows Native Americans to use those portraits).

Q: Why are some areas blank, "noculture", and/or without playable rulers?
A: The map is still a work in progress.

Q: Do you plan to cover the rest of the US/Canada/Mexico?
A: Yes, we plan to cover the whole map.

Q: What kind of apocalypse happened?
A: We're deliberately leaving this ambiguous.

Q: How much technology is left over?
A: Not very much. Currently there are some events for scavenging pre-apocalypse tech, though.

Q: Are there any hordes or European invasions?
A: There are currently British and Brazilian invasions, which occur in the 2800s.

Q: Why are there Norse in the Great Lakes region?
A: The sheer prevalence of Viking merchandise in those regions as well as the existence of things like the modern Asatru revivalist movement influenced the development of a Norse faith among the survivors in that area over the centuries. We are considering modifying the flavor text from vanilla to reflect the origins of this revival.

I've been looking forward to this mod. Can't wait to see it fully developed. What was your inspiration?
Somebody (CaligulaBob?) made a North American map and I started fooling around with it, but I couldn't figure out the map projection so it was hard to pinpoint the location of some cities by overlaying that map with a proper modern map. So then I made my own North American map with info from Blue Marble, and then starting adding provinces, and I just kind of made stuff up as I went along, and then I posted pictures of what I was doing, and then people started saying they wanted to help, and now here we are.

If you need help with the RGB values in definitions.csv let me know - I actually enjoy doing them even though its tedious to other people!

This mod looks awesome guys! I just saw it yesterday, but I told everyone on the Crusader Kings reddit about it. Easily, one of the best mods I have seen, and a lot of other people on the Crusader Kings subreddit agree. Anything I can do to help just ask! I want to help this great mod reach completion!

I know simple CK2 modding, I know how to do characters. And I sort of know how to do events, I suppose I could learn(Seems simple enough!). I wouldn't be able to do a lot, but I could help a bit. I don't have a lot of free time lately, but I could spare a few hours to do a few things for you guys.

I just played around with what you guys have up already and really enjoyed it. I especially loved the kingdom of Michigan, it had all the cities I know and live or go to school in.

I do have a few questions though. What was the type of apocalypse that occurred? Also what is the religious description for the Rust cultists? They seemed to be the only religion I noticed missing a description. Which leads me to wonder if they are considered pagan and reformable.

The Event is being kept deliberately vague; what happened and when everything went to hell is less important, thematically speaking, than what people do as they build a new world from the ashes of the old. Are you sure the Rust Cult are missing a description? It should start with "When the first of the Rust Cult" etc. etc.

Reformable pagans aren't in yet, but Rust Cultists (the name in the file is machine_cult/machine_cultist, maybe that's the issue?) are consider civilised pagans.

Hit me up on Steam.

I can double check, but when I looked over the religion on the character windows the tooltip just said "Machine_cultist_DESC". That also goes for it under the religion tab.

But If I can be of any help I'd love to be. I have a great knowledge of history and my secondary study in school is anthropology so I've got a decent understanding of human cultures.

I think we forgot to include the description in this release, but it'll be in the next one. Also, the Rust Cultists are actually uncivilized - Americanists are the only civilized pagans.

Been playing this a bit tonight, really enjoying it.

First things first, this runs like a dream for some reason on my laptop. Fastest speeds in CK2 I've ever. That might change as the mod develops, but of right now superbly quick.

I've been playing as The Republic of Orleans, which later became the State of Louisiana. Biggest thing that I want from playing so far is more flavour. When I saw that Orleans was a Voodoo state I was hoping for some interesting religious messages, but haven't gotten much of that so far.

Some I'm wondering: When I create new Baronies (new cities/castles/temples), are they supposed to instantly be very levelled up? I assume this is to represent "re-colonising" abandon cities from before the event but I just want to make sure.

I noticed early in the game the heir to the Caribbean Empire had the nickname "Stepping Razor". I know that's probably edited in rather than generated, but if you can figure out how to add nicknames for certain cultures that'd be really good. So for example "Bad Man" for the Anglo-Caribbeans, "Six Shooter" for Texans, etc.
