Seems pretty simple. I like the Burgundian Wars bookmark.

Out of interest, how does the game know to make sure the correct relations, alliances and states of war are correct for the timeframe of each of these bookmarks?

I presume these are already in the main code, the bookmark is just a bookmark to an interesting date and country.

EDIT: That is to say setting the date manually to the bookmark date would have the same effect as selecting the bookmark, its just easier with a bookmark.

Correct. Although I'm not sure what countries it would recommend, whereas he has set them in the file.

This may seem like a strange question, but just for kicks, is it possible to have duplicate entries in the bookmarks file without breaking it? I mean exact duplicates, not same date different countries.

All of the wars and relations are stored in the 2,000-some-odd text files, namely the wars and country files. They can, of course, be edited.

If you select a specific date, it does not recommend countries for you. The bookmarks are just to jump to interesting events and suggest interesting countries.

I can assume you can have duplicate entries. The only restriction I've seen in the length of strings in the txt files; that's why my descriptions are kind of short. You can, however, make them longer in the text.csv (the file that contains all of the game text translated into several languages), but that requires another file to upload.

Hm, to be exact take this bookmark

Code:
bookmark =
{
	name = "Burgundian Wars"
	desc = "The Burgundian Wars were a conflict between the Dukes of Burgundy and the Kings of France."
	date = 1474.1.1

	country = BUR
	country = SAV
	country = SWI
	country = HAB
}

How exactly does it influence the game?

It doesn't. It's just a bookmark (like a scenario).
It starts on 1.1.1477. and suggested countries to play (you can play others, of course) are Burgundy (BUR), Savoy (SAV), Schweiz (SWI) and Austria (HAB).

Ah, crawled through 14 pages of threads to find this. Remember seeing it a few days back and now that I have the game thought I'd find it as extra bookmarks are always nice. Mayhaps it should be moved to the modding forum.

Yep. Send me a PM reminder (or bump it) when you're ready to have it moved and I'll do so. :)
