If this is crazy... just tell me it is too much, but I want to create a custom Valyrian sword for my character, is this possible? Maybe someone could help me with the editing, if it is too much work I understand, but if you could teach me how, that would be awesome.


Edit: Okay I have created a trait and went to the valyrian.csv and copied the other swords except I placed the name of the one I created in the name, then I created a .dds and in the traits folder and named it the same as the trait... I went through the valyrian decisions and placed the name of my sword in... now... I just need to find out how to make it show up in the traits bar ingame. In the console I typed "add_trait the_hammer" (that is the name of the sword) and the console said that the trait was addad (which is good!) however the .dds I made (by editing an already created .dds of another sword) does not show up on the traits bar. Any fixes?

You will have to reference the dds file in interface/traits.gfx:

	spriteType = {

		texturefile = "gfx/traits/[COLOR="#FF8C00"]nameoftheddsfile[/COLOR].tga"
		noOfFrames = 1
		norefcount = yes
		effectFile = "gfx/FX/buttonstate.lua"
	}

For completeness sake you could also add your sword to decisions/valyrian_steel_decisions.txt, events/dragon_events.txt, events/duel_engine_events.txt and events/kingsguard.txt. Some of those have a bit more complex syntax, so remember to make backups first!

Edit: Welp... I have done it, however the game crashes after a week every time I get the sword... very depressing...

You can do it! Modding is fun, even for a newbie like me. The modding community within Paradox is awesome and very helpful! Once I figure this out I will try to write a full walkthrough since there is not one...

Just wanted to mention that I've tried for a few days to get this downloaded through ModDB, but it keeps saying no mirrors are available. Even after I've made an account there is says the same thing. Might be nice with a few optional download sites?

The AAR stuff is still WIP, and I've nothing against the team adding hilt/blade details to Stranger's Mercy when they do the graphics.

But it's staying a bastard sword god-damnit!

I knew I should have just called it the Jimblade.

If that assassin had used a bastard sword he might have been successful.

Would have been a bugger to hide up his shirt though.
