That seems to have fixed it! I didn't imagine there'd be a difference between the .zip archive and the self-extractor .exe so I didn't bother to try the latter, and I always favor installing things manually over using installers (chalk it up to spyware/adware paranoia, I suppose). Thanks a bunch for your help tompalmer! Outstanding mod by the way, and I hope to see Essos someday after the Republic expansion.

Ready to start my 2nd game and wanted to play a Targaryen.

1. any advice on starting time period?
2. any advice on playing Targaryen? It appears brother-sister marriages are common, do I get imbred by doing this? Is there any advantage to marrying inside my Dynasty?

1. Aegon's Conquest
2. No, you don't. The advantage is that you retain Targ looks and you get Targ events.

After playing the War of Conquest starting point I was wondering what would be the most historical way for the invasion to be played out. From what I have read it seems that the histrical invasion was a 3 way war against The Stormlands, Iron Isles, and Mountain and Vale with Mountain and Vale being only a naval battle and as such can be discounted for the purpose of this game. As for the rest of the war I assume it would be a simple matter of dismissing the preraised levies and declaring a dragon conquest on either the Stormlands or Iron Isles while using the game prompt to declare war on the other I don't know how an event such as the Tully's leading a revolt against the kings of the Iron Islands would play out but killing both the kings to end the wars would be much more easily done. The field of fire should be easily accomplished since the Rock and the Reach are allied and will join each other in battle, you would however have to find a way to kill off the entire Gardener house and could then hand the paramount title to the Tyrell. Both the North and the Vale could be considered surrenders and placing Orys on the throne in the Stormlands has an event.

This is only a rough idea of what it would be and I am interested in hearing the opinion of any one more versed in the mod or the books to give their idea on how a semi historical invasion could be accomplished.

The mechanics are all there for an historical invasion to play out. Entire dynasties can be wiped out, the Riverlords can rise up against Harren, Kings can bend the knee rather than fight against the dragons. It is fairly unlikely to happen though, I'd be interested to hear if anyone has had an historical conquest.

A quick question...and I hope this doesn't step on anyone's toes.

YOUR MOD IS AMAZING!!!(Not a question but should be stated). But I was wondering, is there a way for me to edit the history files to like "add family members?" Say I want to make myself a Stark, so I add my name as one of the Stark kids, assign my char ID(ergh, how do I pick that number) give me traits...some greensight, a direwolf or two etc....Is that possible? Or let's say I want to attach myself to some old house...or attach myself to house connected through lineage to the Starks or the Baretheon?

Is that possible? Sort of make a non-canon character in the game?

You can give yourself one of the "House X" traits during Character Customization (so long as you have the Ruler Designer DLC, anyway), which will within a day or two switch you over to being of the chosen dynasty. However, it's a tad broken because your kids tend to wind up at random places on the dynasty list rather than branch out below you properly. This is also a problem with some vanilla events that add 'lost' or adopted family members to your dynasty.

Ready to start my 2nd game and wanted to play a Targaryen.

1. any advice on starting time period?
2. any advice on playing Targaryen? It appears brother-sister marriages are common, do I get imbred by doing this? Is there any advantage to marrying inside my Dynasty?

To question #1: I'd personally suggest either Aegon's Conquest, Robert's Rebellion, or
choosing the Clash of Kings scenario as some random schmuck, waiting for Aegon VI to show up, then switching to him and retaking the Iron Throne for it's rightful rulers!

To question #2: You won't get imbred traits, no. You will, however, get the "Flip of the Coin" events, which will make your children randomly get either Quick, Genius, or Lunatic at a certain age. Sometimes the RNG can hate your guts and make all of your kids crazy, other times it can make them all geniuses. It is awesome.

That's why I like to edit out some dynasties I hardly ever use and replace them in the events with dead families. Like the Reynes or Blackfyres. Always fun to play as a "long lost bastard" who comes back and takes shit back.

So while playing I notice that the send to wall thing is no longer tied to execute and is once again tied to banish. Is this a feature or am I using an older version of the mod? I ask because with the send to wall attached to banish it becomes worthless as you can almost never banish people without incurring tyranny plus it no longer accurately represents what sending a person to the wall means as it doesn't mean taking their land it means removing them from power and eliminating them from the social and political aspect of the world, in short it is basically executing a person but letting them live. This also means I can no longer send prisoners to the wall which seems to be a common thing according to the books.

So is there any way to create a Lord Paramountcy as someone who isn't the Iron Throne? i.e. the relationship between the North and the Riverlands in Clash of Kings. I am King of the Rock and I own the Reach, I want to give it to the Tyrells as my vassals.

So if I where to say capture a bunch of prisoners in a battle or imprisoned a bunch of upstart rebels who dared to defy me how can i send them to the wall without claiming their titles which I don't want?

Give them a trial in the intrigue screen and hope for the best.

EDIT: Also, once you imprison a rebel who revolted, there is an automatic send/banish to the wall decision.

In one of my games there is a King of Mountain and Vale. He captured the Riverlands and then gave it to his son. Who is now Lord Paramount of the Riverlands but he serves the King of Mountain and Vale.

Pick Dec 8000 in starting screen, play as Aegon, declare war on the Vale, beat them, declare on Torrhen Stark who will surrender, choose 'My conquest must end' and set up your capital in KL. Mission accomplished!

ok I love this mod but this problem HAS to be fixed!

So Im playing as Robb Stark in the Clash of Kings scenario and not 2 months into it the Nightwatch calls for help due to the Wildling invasion and suddenly I have troops from everywhere marching around Westeros.

1. When playing with Stark this is utter nonsense cause while the game does not allow me to raise a single soldier to fight of the Greyjoy invasion, when the Wall calls suddenly there are thousands of troops available. This is completely unrealistic.

2. When playing with anyone: it is utter chaos. You have small contingents of troops from as far south as Dorne or the Reach marching north fighting each other, fighting Starks, fighting Lannisters....

As I said this is chaotic and completely unrealistic and it really puts me off from my favorite scenario. Maybe it should be done in such a way that only during peace times you can actually help the wall. And if the whole realm is in war well tough luck then. Just like in the books.

Thats my biggest pet peeve right now. Other than that I would like to see more Valyrian swords in the game(Martin states somewhere that there is around 200 of them), Kingsguard is still pretty badly done and families with only female offspring dont do enough to try to protect its future(more matrilineal marriages..)

Other than that great mod and many thanks for your continuous efforts.

You can't raise all your available troops if people don't like you. Lords also need to protect their keeps and cities safe.

Also, there's only 14 known Valyrian weapons out there.
