Another thing I have noticed about staying Valyrian religion

if you build the Baelor Temple (aka b_great_sept_of_baelor) in Kings Landing it will eventually force convert you to the Faith of the Seven (unless you give ownership of it to someone else) because of event 190037 in the wizmod_events.txt file

Ok, so had another issue with factions. This time I was Arianne Martell. Prince Doran had just convinced Dany to marry my kid brother Quentyn, then died and I'd declared war on Tommen. Things are going good, even without Dany's dragons (stupid women-can't-lead rule :()

So of course, all of my vassals decide this is the perfect time to enact their "overthrow Arianne in favor of Quentyn" conspiracy. Never mind that I had taken the red keep, and was 90% percent on a war that would have made him a King. Nope, they prefer to lose the war in order to make him prince.

I held off ragequitting, instead surrendering, and reloading the save as new Prince Quentyn. Started up the "install Danerys" faction as soon as everyone became a vassal of King Stannis (who won the war when I forfeited). I had 300% faction power alone, so right away I issue the ultimatum. Bow or Burn, Stannis! Except right before I get my answer back, my power drops to like 5%. So we fight. Fortunately the Reach and Vale jump in on my side, everyone else is just sick of fighting and stays home. So the Mother of Dragons gets her throne. Though Quentyn is captured and executed days before victory, leaving Dorne to his infant son by Dany. <sigh>

Dany takes the Throne. At some unknown point thereafter, Aegon of Essos arrives and Dany marries him (I'm assuming an event?). She rules a fair while, rounding up stray counties and the Iron Islands with her "Kneel or I feed you to Drogon" CB.

In time, she passes away. So my now-grown Prince of Dorne is King. All hail Trystane I, titles titles titles, Brother of Dragons! Excpet all the dragon-related stuff goes to my half-brother. :( I get that he's the (allegedly) purebred Targaryean, but couldn't I get the egg at least? For that matter, what happened to Viserion and Rhaegal? The non-dragon-rider King dies shortly after the birth of his only child by Robb Stark's daughter. Trouble, newborn king + dragon-riding Targaryean half brother...

In time I get deposed, not by my dragon-riding uberknight half brother (who is content to be master of arms of Bramsfort) but by the son of Robert Baratheon's bastard son Edric Storm, and his wife, who I believe was the last known Lannister. My computer wisely ctd'd then to avoid being hurled out the window.

In all seriousness, I think the faction system needs reviewing with regards to the mod. The AI seems to form factions and make demands when not appropriate (i.e, when your liege, a fellow dynasty member, is about to win a war and help their claimant) and not to form them when it would be appropriate (i.e, when you have a strong adult claimant and a liege who still has his umbillical cord).

Also, could we get 'special' dragon traits for Dany's trio? That way she could bequeath them to her heirs, or perhaps let a husband try to tame them. "The Dragon has Three Heads" after all...

As other posters note, there may be excessive faction coup attempts -- particularly, in the middle of larger wars.

Only other issue, there appear to be very few plots. I'm pretty sure my install is clean, but all I'm getting is fabricate claims, buy loyalties, or assassinate people. (And usually not all three.) Are there supposed to be more intrigue choices?

That said, it runs flawlessly. Fifty years into the last scenario, no crashes, no excessive weirdness. Lots of cool stuff going down. Robb lost the war but later ate the Riverlands; the Gulltown Arryns inherited the Vale, lost it when Joffrey gave it to Tommen, and then got it back (LOL at Tommen trying to rule the Vale from Summerhall); House Baratheon died out with Shireen; As Lady Paramount Cersei Lannister, Warden of the West (titles titles), I forged a claim and took the Trident from Robb's heir before being retaliatory-assassinated by the wife of a Lord Paramount of the Stormlands who I had just knocked off. Also in an epic anti-climax, House Bolton died out quietly from old age and illness. And I married Arya Stark to Bronn in order to produce a race of uber-duelists.

I don't know if this is even do-able, but is there a way to make Kings more willing to revoke titles? Stannis lost his rebellion, but was kept as Lord Paramount of the Stormlands. He rebelled again, lost again, and was kept as Lord Paramount again. He ended up dying of old age. Same thing went for Robb, who lost his independence war, was captured, and was just sent home -- then repeated the same thing with the same results. I don't know why King Joffrey felt so ... forgiving ... but I feel like the odds of getting away with multiple rebellions while keeping your primary title should be lower than they are. (Or maybe it's just dumb luck and others are getting different results - Sample size of 1, and all.)

The factions are nuts is a vanilla issue I think. I can't see that much difference between the vanilla faction weirdness and the current GoT faction weirdness. People who like their liege shouldn't start or join factions. Nothing against people who hate their liege to do it, but right now the AI just don't want to be loyal, even if they had all reasons to be that. (At least I haven't seen the weirdness with factions demanding lower crown authority while it's minimal in this mod yet).

If I remember correctly, when people rebel, if the King/Queen wins they usually get an event to revoke/execute the rebel. Could be wrong, though.

@ Xoatly --

Pretty sure they do, it just seemed in my game at least that it wasn't used frequently enough. Looking back, I feel like there may have been a previous issue with rebels being banished too frequently and the Wall as a result becoming a catch-em-all collection of displaced Lords Paramount. So there may just be no perfect way to handle the Kings' decisionmaking.

Well, I'm having nuttier factions in mod than vanilla. I'm having a recurring problem where the same lords seem to create then abandon the same faction over and over again. I get spammed with simultaneous messages "Lord X has created faction""Lord X has joined faction" "Lord X has left faction."

Do you mean when a sword is passed on it duplicates? or that there are duplicates at the start?

Duplicates from the start, starting off with all the generations alive holding the sword at once. I'd guess the history has them with the trait from birth rather than waiting for the date when the father died but i havent actually checked the files.

Weird, as Aegon I had absoluteness no problem with factions (one-two at a time and totally insignificant and going nowhere). I guess that's the effects of dragons :d

Faction Stuff

This is all very useful information. I doubt factions will ever be one hundred percent realistic - human behavior is simply too complex to model perfectly - but we're definitely going to keep trying to improve their behavior with each version.

Only other issue, there appear to be very few plots. I'm pretty sure my install is clean, but all I'm getting is fabricate claims, buy loyalties, or assassinate people. (And usually not all three.) Are there supposed to be more intrigue choices?

A lot of old plot functionality was moved over to factions, and most of the remaining plots are inherently situational. Those three are the ones that are most commonly available, but you should occasionally see others.

I am having a small but very serious problem, although it's probably because of 1.07 vanilla. Whenever a faction declares independence and I decide to break free as well, the Iron Throne already raised my levies, which don't disappear when I raise mine. So basically my army gets cloned and the clones are immediatly forced to fight each other, but as a bonus, the Iron Throne immediatly sieges my capital(with 50000 troops) while I have to get collect all my forces from the Riverlands and the North and avoiding my own giant cloned doomstack. It's ridiculous, not to mention that if LP's side with the king in a Super war, the Iron Throne will get double the troops from them, 1 doomstack for them, and another doomstack to help them as a ally.

I did the reverse of this as Aegon in his conquest of Westeros, after a realm would fall I would raise its levies and combine them with my own. Had over 120k host with dragons by the end of the war string, with nearly as many troops allied to me also helping out.

I feel ashamed to ask as this has likely already been addressed somewhere, but I could not find an answer.

With the latest version of the mod (and my game up to date, 1.07b), the provinces names all appear as the vanilla CK2 names (Rouen, Dorset, etc.). I believe I have installed the mod correctly (did it twice, in the "My Documents" folder), and I play in English.

Any word of advice for a poor beggar?

You know what, that's my mistake. For some reason I thought this mod had incorporated the Additional Objectives mod, so I was looking for like, Show bravery in battle, Ward liege's child, etc. It's not included, that's why they're not there. Sorry.

Really enjoying this - keep up the good work!

how do you get orys to marry the daughter of the stormlands and create the baratheon family?

The requirements to my understanding are: There must not be a LP or King of the Stormlands, Aegon must also control Storms End. This is most easily accomplished by killing the king of the stormlands in battle (or hoping that he dies trying to slay your dragon). Once this is accomplished, after you get your next Aegon conquest choice, a few days later you should get the event to install Orys as the LP of the Stormlands.

What is it with all the people talking about Aegon's invasion with the Golden company. I've always thought that he conquered the Seven Kingdoms with his dragons, not some pesky mercenaries. And I thought that scenario for that is not ready yet (because we don't know exactly much about what families held what titles and lands etc at the time).
