I have Vanilla and I downloaded the version of the mod that was on page one here, selected it to install for the vanilla game. I have no other mods on the game. I did select all the extras the mod came with though if that could have an impact.

screen size problem?!
your screen shot is 800x600 but you should play with 1024x768.
or did you resize the shot?

Umm, so as Germany it's now May 1941 and the prepare for barbarossa event hasn't fired yet . . . I'm not going to attack russia without it given the bad consequences . . . any way to trigger the prep?

Preparation for Barbarossa (trigger it manually: F12 then type "event 316400" excluding quotes)

should fire on oct 1 1940
however won't if
- GER is allied with SOV
- GER has not Paris under control
- is at war with Nat. Spain, Rep. Spain, YUG, GRE or already SOV
- or POL still exists and is allied with both GER and SOV

Operation Barbarossa (trigger it manually: F12 then type "event 316401" excluding quotes)

should fire on may 1 1941
however won't for same reasons as with event "Prepartion for Barbarossa"

Can't say for sure because I never had this problem.
Never played mod34 with plain vanilla hoi2, always had both expansions (dd&arma) and the 1.2 patch arma patch installed.
Did you run the NTL (No-Time-Limit) patch after the install of mod34?

One advise however:
- (optional backup your stuff like savegames)
- reinstall hoi2, patch it up to the latest minus the 1.3 beta patches
- same with mod34, chose the right version
- run NTL patch

hope this helps
and don't forget, help with technical stuff can always be found at
hoi2 - tech support

I kinda need help or advice rather.

I'm playing as Stalinist France, and I released all my colonies to uphold my socialist beliefs. This was a huge drain on my MP and resources for some reason. My IC was only about 40 and I can only build one run of factories at a time, or else my production bar won't let me. All my resources are in red, so I can't research to improve my IC and I can't trade for money to research to improve my IC. Even then, techs won't increase my IC by a lot.

What can I do?

Yeah. The whole point of imperialism is basically to gather materials to supply the mother nation's industry. When you get rid of your colonies you get rid of your resources.
You're essentially screwed until you seize more land.
Unless you decide to cheat and either use resource cheats or the acceptall cheat to drain Germany of his resources in negotiations.
Also, if you wanted to improve you're Communist status, you'd want to seize more land to spread Communism, not give it away to capitalist dogs.

Hello,

I have just installed this mod and am getting some very strange problems with resources and economy.

When I first started, all the nations were 'converting' giant amounts of energy into, well, not very much oil. Each nation was using more energy than it was producing (-800 daily in the case of Germany). The conversion rate (energy_to_oil) was 0.0050, so I swapped this, for each nation that was converting, to 0.2500, which seems to produce something better.

Anyway, with this working somewhat I tried to trade some energy for metal, and found nations (such as sweden) would give me terrific deals (30 of my energy for 100 of their metal).

Is this a problem that has been seen before? It doesn't make the game quite unplayable, but removes the economic haggling of the early game (and in the 1933 mod, that is a lot of early game).

Tid

They do give you great deals, but when they start to take them away they tend to repeat that several times...
About the oil conversion, I have that issue too, but it's not actually too bad, since it only works when you have twice as much energy as oil, and there are techs that give good-sized amounts of both.

Yes. There's oil techs anyways so it doesn't matter all too much. Though I suggest staying away from Industrial techs for awhile (they have negative research effects).
Is the United Kingdom basically supposed to start with absolutely nothing? No techs, no units, no convoys, almost no IC....

Heh, I just found a glitch with the mod. When the private industry boost event occurs, instead of it adding +1% to your industry, it sets it to 1%....

Well, I modded mine to have the ARMA 1.2 values, so it's not an issue for me. :)

Barbarossa Update: Finally managed to A. Get the event to fire and B. Not get my butt handed to me by the Soviets, only took ~ 200 combat divisions, lol.

on which difficult setting?
(the one you chose right at the start of mod34 not the vanilla ones)

NO!
guess your install is screwed up.

just look at the second screenshot
for the naval units UK starts with
('34 campaign with mod34 @ arma 1.2)

event 1013?
works fine here.
