In the latest videos of Hoi4 I had a look on the tech tree, especially mobile warfare. There you can choose between mobile infantry and blitzkrieg. According to Daniel - who is playing Japan in this lets play - you can either get a focus on mobile infantry or a focus on tanks. Does that actually make sense?

Wasn't blitzkrieg another word for a combined arms operation which means to use mobile/mechanized infantry, tanks and close air support to break the front line? To choose between infantry or tanks might be not plausible in that context. I understand what they are trying to do there - giving either your infantry or your tanks a slight bonus. What's your opinion?

Everyone knew about combined arms. Here you get a choice of focus between tanks or infantry, a choice which allow many to take advantage of the mobile focus doctrine, nothing to do with history.

Presumably, the choice is there so you could avoid having to invest a lot into tanks, as those are costly, and just focus on cheaper mobile infantry with it`s support.

After all, if you don`t have many tanks, the doctrine would be useless, without an option to focus on less expensive mobile warfare.
