Question: Did the Mobile HQ always move mechs up one initiative, or was this added down the line?

I guess last night was the first time I had ever noticed this, so I was wondering how I may have missed this in the past.

Just curious.

Mech or Vehicle-based Initiative Boosts were not in the game at Launch. If I recall correctly they were introduced in the very first DCL, FLASHPOINT.

That makes sense.

Outside of the Campaign, I have rarely seen the HQ in the wild, and I haven't done a campaign run after the Flashpoints launched...that I can remember anyway.

Thanks everyone. Now I know :)

I learned about it the "hard" way. The opposition forces were moving early, so I assumed that there was a Cyclops with the battle computer out there somewhere and kept saving my called shots to try and head cap it. Nope, just a lousy Mobile HQ :(

There are two versions of the Mobile HQ: one with the Battle Computer and another without it. The one with the Battle Computer was added to the game about the same time that the Cyclops appeared.

And the one without it has not been seen, by me, since.

They were not, they existed in the first release as convoy units, I know because I saw one on Cohh's "early bird" streams.

Also, famously, in the Liberation: Smithon campaign mission.

Are . . . are we allowed to talk about that without trigger warnings?
