I don't know if I've been really out of luck but my mandates were always around research station, and offworld mining. I should try to get a slaver but well it doesn't fit my fanatic individualist ethos.

Anyway I've only seen one king of mandate for one kind of character
it could a bit more diversified.

Offworld miners could be about getting energy at some point. Researchers could be about getting a certain amount of physics/sociology/Engineering each month.

Mandate could be also about colonizing more worlds, exploring X systems, store X energy /ineral, getting strategic ressources, getting a diplomatic agreement with a race, declaring a war/making peace, conquering a system, developing a research sector of X planets etc...

Reward could be a bit varied with sponsored ships/station building, anomaly location given etc...

There also seem to me to be a few obviously missing mandates; if there's a shipwright mandate (be using 75% of naval capacity by term end), why is there not something along the lines of an armed forces mandate (build x number of troops across empire)? How about a colonial mandate as well; establish x number of new colonies?

Yes! More mandates.

Reduce military spending - reduce fleet size
Diplomat - create some sort of specific treaty condition or relations thresh-hold
Hawk - Establish rivalries or reduce relations past a point

And any myriad more that can be thought up.

The colonist mandate is a good idea (it could probably just be one new colony, given how short the terms are) but it suffers the same problem as the research and mining ones in that later in the game there's a high likelihood that there simply isn't any way of achieving it.

I don't mind early game being mostly just research and mining ones but what I'd like would be the as the game goes on you see those less frequently and see ones that are actually relevant in the late game come up more often. Unfortunately shipwright is basically the only one like that which exists right now.

I think more mandates based on specific situations would be nice. These exist with the separatist ones but you'd usually prefer to avoid those. Things like forming an alliance with a specific empire, upgrading an alliance to a federation, declaring war on a specific empire, etc. Ideally they should be things you'd consider doing anyway but wouldn't necessarily do right away, so that the election can actually shape your actions to some degree rather than something you start mostly ignoring after a certain point.
