I don't think we can get everything that we want: an ardous connection in the north that isn't used and a historical Swedish Finland protected by the armies ferried across the Baltic. (I don't think anyone disputes this historical desciption at least.) Cutting the connection will not have any troop movement up north, but unless unrealistic measures are used (raised taxes or a straight) Sweden will lose Finland.
They will? To whom? What kind of a war score do you need to claim Finland? Can that be done without taking the Swedish mainland? I guess if you kill enough of their armies... but still. Have you tried it? Do Aragon lose Sicily on a regular basis?

Ohh... and cutting the connection and adding a strait is a third option:

A: Cut connection no strait
B: Cut connection and a strait
C: Keep connection and a strait

All of these are IMHO more historical and gamewise better than:

D: Keep connection no strait

Note I've listed the option according to my preference with A being the most preferable.

Now Hainan island in china become map center.
Maybe I'm late, but is there a real technical concern for this choice and the big difference with vanilla Europe centered map as a result?
I have no objection for MyMap. It's your mod, after all, and this is arguably a great work.

But for the future AGCEEP map, if this is not fully dictated by idgrid concerns and no other possible choice, this is, IMHO, a little bit problematic, geopolitically speaking.

Don't misunderstand me, I don't say that because I live in Europe and use Europe centered maps, but because of the spirit of Europa Universalis and the importance of Europe in EUII timeframe.
And I'm fully aware of the fact that this will only apply to minimap and that idgrid problems are real because of the number of new provinces in Europe, actually.
But, even with big idgrid concerns, wasn't it possible to move the map eastward or westward only by the minimum to fix them?

Finally, I won't die using the new involved minimap, but I just wanted to point out the deep signification of the center of a world map. It applies to geographical projection too, but there was no choice for this because of EUII engine.

I've been wanting to say, that although I understand the reasoning behind the new centering...this new map puts too much focus on the Pacific, whereas the "more important" Atlantic is divided. That seems wrong.
Agreed

Yes, but it is just cosmetic.
Personally I don't care about it if it allows the best province number optimization, and particularly in Europe.

IMHO, a good detail of europe is beter than an europe centered minimap.

That's possible. and easy work if you have powerful computer.
:D
But for me that will suffer my old and less RAM memory computer. move piece by piece in long time work..

Yuup that's just cosmetic not affect in the game. mymap reposition was like map in myroom :D
maybe that suit for AGCEEP chapther Asia.

possible merger provinces in idgrid1 region
durazzo-valona
Zadar-Istiria
push sea provinces near iceland to another idgrid region to unmerge venetian sea
merge sea in faroe island to live up this island. is this important islands??????

Remake Scandinavian base on Hallsten map. Jemtland/Herjedalen. which one provinces name.

Not. I think you can place them in one sea province and unite with Iceland
Well the Faroes isn't in the same Idgrid as Iceland IIRC. As to their importance they (like Greenland and Iceland) didn't play a major role in Europe. However the Faroes did have an Archbishopry until the reformation. My guess is they are about as important as Orkney and the Hebrides. So if they are both going to be merged with the Highlands then the Faroes could go as well. However the seazone north of the Faroes really don't play that big a role IMHO, so if merging that with the seazone to the south leaves room for the Faroes I would prefer to keep it. But then I could be biased on this. ;)

In generel I think the seazones around Scotland looks very wierd... I would suggest something like this:

The yellow line could be ignored to save province IMHO, but it would be nice.

I'd prefer if Shetland Islands, Orkney Islands and Faroe Islands could all be kept as separate provinces.
If you are very short on ID's and absolutely need to merge them or another province, go ahead. If you could rather merge some seazones, lakes etc, do that before you merge them.

How is that a reason for keeping them?
Well it isn't the reason for keeping them. It was intended as information regarding their importance in a historical context from the early timeframe of the game. However that doesn't mean anything in terms of gameplay.

Gameplay wise it will give Denmark a stopping point when going to Iceland, thus reducing naval attrition. Other than that it is "just" another province and island which existed. It didn't exchange hands at all during this timeframe, and didn't bring much wealth to Denmark, hence my comparison to the Hebrides and Orkney, which are both much the same size and of the same level of gameplay importance.

Shetland and Orkney should be one province, and I drew it that way. They always went as a chunk, and Shetland was part of the Jarldom of Orkney, and went to Scotland as one unit.

Faroe islands shouldn't be part of Orkney though, because they stayed part of Norway. If you want to get rid of it, merge it with Iceland or Bergen instead.

Check map of italy :

To be correct you should merge : Zadar - Dalmatia, as Zadar on attached map is Zara.

On lavoro from previous posts, use CAMPANIA . see attached map again

This isn't correct. "Zadar" province in 1419 was Venetian, it wasn't part of Dalmatia. It BECAME part of Dalmatia later on, but that was after Venice conquered Dalmatia from Hungary. Having Zadar as part of Dalmatia is fine for a game that starts at any date other than 1419...

Lavoro is a perfectly acceptable name for the province, just as much as Campania is.
