I've seen this screenshot in the Vic2 website and saw that the Bolivian Puna was larger than it should be, but leaving the aesthetics, the problem is that Bolivia controlled the City of Salta!
I know it was made with Clio by the Community for the Community, and I'm not against its boundaries because its too late, but at least give the province to Argentina not to Bolivia. Of this province of Clio, Argentina controlled its unique city and capital of a province, and Bolivia only the very, very low populated Puna(had less than 1.000 inhabitants in Salta's part).

V2_17.JPG

Which is inside that territory:

Provincia_de_Salta_(Argentina).svg

And the real size of the Puna:

GobernacionAndes.jpg

I mean, the real and important part of the Salta province, its capital and certainly unique real city is in Bolivia, this is not a small mistake, its giving one of the bigger cities of a country to another one, which its just wrong.

I like how that map of Argentina shows the Falklands. Brilliant.

And with regards to Bolivia: Well, they probably won't change it anymore and claim that this is correct, even if it's not. I am also puzzled by all the land they own in the chaco.

it doesn't show the falklands?

I think that the situation is that bolivia conquered some land in Argentina, because I believe I saw a picture somewhere with Argentina's real borders...

I think it can be quickly solved... HoI3 had Argentina's Capital as Chacabuco....

We are certainly not loved here :D

My main problem with this screenshot is with the rivers: Paraná and São Francisco rivers are united. This creates a body of water which ends both in Argentina and in northeastern Brazil, but without spring!
Both rivers, obviously, shouldn't touch. The spring of São Francisco river and Rio Grande (that becomes Paraná river after the union with Paranaiba river) are both in Minas Gerais state, but definetly are not in the same place, as can be seen in this map: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/b/b0/Mapa_hidro.jpg .
[they cut out Tietê river (in São Paulo) and shortened Uruguay river, among other things, but these are not major concerns near the "springless" giant river they created].

The map, though, isn't less amazing, even with these little "problems". Keep the great work, Paradox! (but, if possible, fix these few mistakes, as graphical stuff is probably harder to mod than other parts)

Well, I'm fine with it so long as they don't give Bolivia two capitals. That would be ridiculous.

Besides that, what's up with the Gran Chaco? Paraguay looks like it was mauled.

Unless they have planned some South American war events (Confederation War etc) which results in territory exchange, I am puzzled as well. :\

Addendum: and Bolivia conquering territory of that size a in two-day war is quite a mod eh? :D

didnt they say the V2 website screenshots were old and outdated and from early tests?
so this might not have anything to do with the game but an early knock-up just to show colours and pretty rivers

I expect the situation in South America is designed to lead Bolivia's neighbors to seize that territory, and additional subdivision of the provinces wasn't worth what they added to the game. Remember that map is based off Clio, which was Magellan based, which I assume meant they were working with a limited number of provinces.

I was about to ask that. Or it was a VIP thing?
If I remember well was Peru controlling Bolivia in vanilla, and later in VIP Bolivia controlling Peru. Or maybe the opposite. But as I remember it they changed one country by another in VIP.

Paraguay is like that because that's how much territory they controlled at the time. The rest of what is now Paraguay was disputed and confirmed as Paraguayan territory in the Chaco War in 1935.

IMO a lot of the disputed areas in South America would be better represented as provinces with no owner, except for perhaps there being colonial buildings on them. That's probably better for a mod, though.

There isn't colonial buildings anymore, so unclaimed provinces would lead to various nations having colonial skirmishes in those territories. Did this is ever happen IRL?
