Why do han chinese characters sometimes wear a Jurchen bureaucratic uniform ?

Many times, I know Paradox guy dig a lot of details about Chinese historic background that even not invloved gameplay, but seriously, why always han chinese characters wear a Jurchen uniform appear 17th century ?

And sometimes, you can see the correct traditional uniform show up with the 17th one.Paradox know what's the correct, but couldn't give up the 17th one, which is the most stereotype images of Chinese.

like this, more in the game.

There was a whole thread a few months back about Chinese headgear. Apparently the style of headgear changed dramatically from Tang through to Qing,I think there would be a big problem trying to represent this simply in the game via static text box images, especially since a lot of the headgear styles were culturally based. What would happen if say the Yuan never took over China - the styles and dress that accompanied that would simply never happen, or at the very least would look out of place in game.

I am no expert on Chinese fashions or headgear (that thread I mentioned was my big education), but I think that fixing this may be harder than its worth.

Just some pictures, CK2 can fix it as some bugs, but it's hard for CK2 artist to give up Qing dress, even there are the correct dress in the game.Well, what can be more stereotype of Chinese except the Qing dress, WHO DOESN'T LIKE STEREOTYPE?

It's not like that CK2 have no clue about Chinese dress.

Chinese protraits is correct, Chinese emperors who doesn't appear in the game is almost correct, general in the loading screen is correct, even temple names of Chinese emperors is historical correct.AT THE SAME TIME, Qing dress just come from nowhere again and again.

WHY?

I think you're jumping the gun a little bit man. I've never seen anyone who wasn't either from China (be it PRC or ROC) or a historian who would look at that and go "Yeah that's a Chinese guy" the only thing that might give it away is the queue.

I won't deny that it would have been a better idea for them to base event pictures off of the Han to Ming dynasty officials since 90% of the time the Sun of Heaven will be a Han culture character. The fact of the matter is that CK2 has always taken liberties and I'm doubtful they'll edit the pictures because you claiming that they are stereotyping Chinese people or whatever.

This isn't really a suggestion besides you going "I don't like this, change this!!!1!!1"

Well, maybe it's not stereotype, maybe it's just some mistakes like my title.

True, I don't like Han Chinese characters in 7th-14th century wear 17th dress, am I wrong?

BESIDES, there are right dress event pictures in the game.

The problem is not finding the art, it's making it show up at the right time. CK2 is run by thousands and thousands of individual scripts, all of which contain certain criteria, one of which is which graphic to use in the text box. This is no big problem and it can even be dynamically set so that one piece of art appears in one set of circumstances (say a Christian
character) while another appears in a different set (say a Muslim character).

The problem is that because there are so many scripts and so many possible criteria, but there are in fact only so many predefined pictures. They could add more but that would just make it more complex. Ideally though, and what I think you are saying is that they should simply edit the ones that they have already have so that they look less out of their correct time period. This sounds fine, but at this stage I don't think that it is a high priority for them.

FWIW I support your claim, in the meanwhile if it does bother you a lot then you can simply find the relevant pictures in the files and replace them with your own version. The type, size and resolution must all be within certain limits, but if you do met all those criteria then you can basically change anything and everything in the game. Happy modding !

It's not complex, none of Jurchen, Kithan, Tangut and han character dress like that, it's a common event from DLC Jade Dragon, no need to give ti complex sets.

I don't think anyone is suggesting that there should be triggers to change the event picture based on the date, etc.

Just that the picture should be appropriate for at least some of the game's time frame rather than way off.

I don't think anyone is suggesting that there should be triggers to change the event picture based on the date, etc.

Just that the picture should be appropriate for at least some of the game's time frame rather than way off.

Those pictures ain not appropriate for the game's time frame, that is what I complaine about.

EDIT: Reading comprehension. It wasn't about the portraits. I've kept the original in the following spoiler.

Are you talking about event pictures or the portraits? There is nothing that I made for the Han clothing portraits that is inaccurately placed into the game in regards to time period. I did not do the event pictures, so I cannot attest to their accuracy, but the clothing is fine. If you have a specific headgear and/or piece of clothing you'd like to mention, let me know and I'd be more than willing to take a look.

Thank you for your beatuiful work, the portraits is right.the event pictures remind me of the 156 years of humiliation China has gone through in her recent history, and the stereotype of MODERN CHINA.
