This looks cleaner and more useful.

And you can quickly see which initiative phase the various mechs/pilots will move in.

Note that it gives both a mission difficulty rating at the top as well as a lance rating at the bottom right, so you can get a feel for if you're bringing too weak of a lance to the mission.

It also shows the biome: Desert. I assume if you moused over that you'd get more details of the impact, such as to heat dissipation.

Also interesting that the Mechwarriors are not using the traditional green/regular/vet/elite system and are listed as Recruit, Defender and Gunner indicating a specialisation focus.

I wonder if it is possible to memorize lances for quicker deployment. Of course, repairs and injuries might have them switching up enough that this isn't useful.

It would be useful at times but it doesn't look like you will take too long to select your mechs or pilots at all.

I suppose HBS' system includes more information: "Defender" is probably the title of the highest ranked skill and in what category. This includes both your rank and specialization.

Looking at the video, it appears you get that specialization title when you reach rank 5 and select you first super-power. Gunner is gunnery, Defender is guts tree.
I also noticed guys reduced autocannon recoil (presumably to hit penalty)

The following are my own terms not devs', using commonly-understood college terms instead of words like "Specialize" which even the developers got confused by when they were discussing it...

They described how a pilot will "Major" in one trait (becoming eligible for the rank 5 and 8 special ability of that trait) and "Minor" in another trait (becoming eligible for only the rank 5 special ability), then they can't access any other rank 5 or 8 special traits. The titles like Gunner and Defender seem to reflect the "Major" of those pilots, as decided by the first trait they raised to 5.

Greetings Mechwarriors

This thread and all its cousins have been moved to the Battletech Universe thread due to forum organization and usability needs as a compromise after consulting with the thread author. A direct link still exists in the main subforum for each thread, but IIRC it will not bump with each post like the actual threads will. These redirects will stay up for at least a week to help funnel traffic here.

Please check for updates in the Battletech universe subforum. And please bear with us as we juggle usability issues to try and account for the needs of all mechwarriors as best we can.

Thank you.

I think the most interesting part of this is the LANCE RATING indicator on the lower right side. Note how it appears to have 10 levels of rating not unlike the Mission Difficulty rating. Both consisting of 5 icons equally divided into half-step segments.

Could this mean, this "device" is intended to tell the commander how comparable his lance is to the one he'll face on the current mission?
( i.e. swap out your mechs until the lance rating shows at least 3 stars when going on a 3 skull mission??)

I'm so stoked!

I'm so stoked!

And so we can surmise that an Atlas is worth a 1/2 pip... or an atlas by itself could complete the intro mission (which makes sense)

I like how MechWarrior Designations are noted. Apparently as soon as the MechWarrior hits Level 5, he gains the Designation of that Attribute:

It could be that it is an escort mission... and just about everything moves faster than olde Atlas there, they wanted the A/C2 to provide cover?
