Alright I need some help with trying to rationalize this.

So watching BudgetMonk's video on the subject that was released less than 3 months ago as of today. He states that, as Byz, you should be capable of taking the "Recover Greece" Mission immediately. It's shown within the first minute or so.

This is untrue, I take and delete missions and after 2 years I have a useless Improve Prestige mission with Recover Asia Minor Coast and the damned Eastern Balkans.

So I looked up Byz Missions, and as far as I'm concerned, the Base Weights are backwards, unless this was done in 1.23 as a middle finger to the Strategy shown in the video.

Recover Greece BW: 3500
Recover Asia Minor Coast BW: A Whopping 8000
Conquer the Eastern Balkans: 5000

So what am I doing wrong, or why is taking the Anatolian Coast and Eastern Balkans rated to be of greater importance than unifying a land connection between your Provinces?

This was a 1.23 change. BudgetMonk's video was from 1.22, where the Recover Greece mission was always available at game start. (BYZ could also always rival TUR in 1.22, which is also no longer the case.)

If you want to execute BudgetMonk's strategy, you will have to roll back to 1.22.2 (in the Steam Betas tab).

If this was changed recently, i wonder why?

I mean, Greece should be top priority for Byz, it kinda is its heartland. And why should Eastern Balkans have a higher priority than Greece?
Was Recon of Greece too powerful, thus a balance change? Is there a Dev statement anywhere regarding this change?

Its bad enough that changes like these are not in the patchnotes and you ask for a real statement.

Dont watch BM, he is just a distraction.

Out-tech Otto
Build some galleys (4-6)
Build troops over the limit (~20)
Preferably start war when Ottos have war in the East.
Preferably have an ally East willing to go to war for land as distraction.
Take Edrine asap

With all things fulfilled it makes your chance around 90% if you play avarage.
