Missing registry entries

Hi,

I just tried to install the new patch (1.3) but the installer complained about Doomsday not being installed. I guess it's missing a registry entry...would someone be so kind and tell me his? I'll adjust it to give it another try...

Same problem here. And as appealing as downloading a 400mb file from gamersgate all the while praying that Comcast doesn't do what it does best, that is, drop the connection mid-stream, I'd really like to avoid uninstalling and reinstalling to put the new patch on...

Had the same problem here, let me install it again and I`ll give the the key you need to add to the registry.

EDIT: Go to Start - run. Type regedit. Make sure that the folder tree [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Paradox Interactive\Doomsday] exists. Add new string value called "path". Then double click that and add your install folder. Do the same for a new string value called "app" and make that point to your hoi2.exe.

Errh, I just checked and saw that I *do* have these values, and they point to the correct path. Any ideas?

Same problem. Can somebody from Paradox tell me what the installer is even looking for? For example, I have my HoI2DD in a non-default directory (Program Files\HoI2DD) Is the installer only looking for the default install directory? If so, what IS the default install directory, I'll just move it to that and adjust the registry entry accordingly, but I would the think the installer package would to a bit more looking that that.

Any chance of released a .rar version that can be manually installed?

Apparantly the current 1.3 is not compatible and they will be releasing a Gamersgate compatible version shortly.

No, I just posted in the tech support forum up above, I downloaded the version posted on Gamergate and, well, here's my post from the tech support forum:

I'm still having an issue with the 1.3 patch failing to find the game at all, I have the Gamersgate version.

I've now tried several solutions, including:

1. Multiple downloads and attempts with the forum patch.
2. Downloads and attempts from the Gamersgate version of the patch.
3. Editing the registry entries to insure they are pointed at the correct directory.
4. Changing the physical directory to match the default install directory (C:\Paradox Interactive\HoI2DD) and adjusting the registry entries accordingly.


I'm really at a loss here, and I'm REALLY trying to avoid re-downloading the game because fo the stability of my connection (thank you Comcast )

Are there any other possible solutions/explanations, and if not is there any possibility of getting more information about the installer (what is it looking for to confirm the game location, physical directory or registry entry or what?) or even the possibility of releasing a version without the installer so I can manually apply the fixes?

(BTW, the game works fine on my PC and is a completely unmodded, 1.2 version, with only a single install)

I'm just keeping my finger's crossed that they'll decide to release a .rar version of the patch and allow us to install it manually or at least a version of the installer which allows us to manually point to our working HoI2DD directory. This is just infuriating at this point...

Looks pretty close to mine (which may not be a good thing...)

I'm guessing we might be screwed here for a while, being that it's now after working hours on a Friday in Sweden, but I'm holding out hope (and starting a new game! )

And fixed the install issue for me. The app path needs to be added to the Windows app directory registration, and not just to the registry entry for the Doomsday itself (registry is one of those things I just don't know a whole lot about)

I can't make any promises, but this fixed the issue for me. Please thank Russomatroso!
