You know, while it is nice to know that some random courtier has become a martial nun, it would be *really* nice to receive a notification when my heir dies. Or my wife. :(

Hmmm ..I am pretty ure that you get events whenever a courtier dies.

If your heir is in another court, I am not sure you will be notified.

If your wife dies, you will (in DV) get a notification flag about a dynasty member that can marry.

Yeah, I normally deed my heir with lots of land and titles so that his prestige will be high when he inherits. So unless something has gone terribly wrong he'll be in a different court.

And yeah, there is an indicator on the upper right that a dynasty member is free to marry. Nothing special to indicate that it is the ruler, though- it might just be that martial nun. Besides, there's also an indicator up there for when one of your provinces is being besieged. Imagine if that was the only notification you had that someone declared war on you!

I think having your heir die is more significant than a DOW. There really should be a notification.

And if you have elective law, your heir is likely to change a lot faster. But then again if you have elective, you should be watching the order of succession anyway. With anything else, you'll probably (always with salic) get a dynasty member anyway.

Was actually going to post about the "is free to marry" notification: if you mouse over it, it does specify if it's your ruler or just a dynasty member that's free to marry.

It would be nice if there was such a notification.

But there isn't.

It's fairly easy to survive without it. If you're playing right (and not using Primo) you're paying attention to the succession anyway and you have a competent backup heir in the second slot, if you're playing right with primo buck up. You didn't really expect to go through 400 years of strict primogeniture without a few regencies, did you?
