Someone on Steam brought this up and I had to check cohh's stream again to confirm it.

His build has no reverse option for movement. Now his build is a beta build, so that means there have been a lot of changes made since then, but has anyone seen a later build where it shows the movement controls with reverse in there?

Huh. Which is really weird b/c I have seen OpFor mechs reversing in these same videos.

One of his mechs moonwalked when he gave it a move order for no apparent reason.

It's a pre-release version so you can expect these sorts of things.

I'm almost certain that one of the HBS developers said (during one of the developer Q&A livestreams a while back) that they got rid of the reverse function for the player in the game because most of the time reversing wasn't any more useful than just selecting "Move" and moving away and then turning around to face the enemy again.

I COMPLETELY disagree with that decision because I used the reverse function prodigiously during skirmish matches during the beta, and there were definitely cases where reversing allowed me to back away further or reach a more advantageous position and facing than trying to do the same thing using the "Move" function (I know because I checked trying to do it both ways). Also, watching 'Mechs walk backwards looks SO MUCH BETTER!

Holy crap! At the 23 minute and 55 second mark of Taureor's video above, he gives his Blackjack a "Move" command and his Blackjack walks backwards! HBS has seemlessly and automatically integrated the reverse function into the "Move" command! That is genius! I apologize to HBS for having a go at them about this earlier in this thread. I am REALLY chuffed about the uncluttered UI and that 'Mechs will automatically walk backwards when appropriate! Thank you HBS for this great feature!

Yeah I just saw that happening in a stream today.

So they didn't remove it, they just automated it in movement.

fair enough and it worked, so great.
