Missing countries and provinces?

According to this picture from steam, there are many areas that should have countries and provinces but look like wasteland.



Is this just an early screenshot with missing provinces and countries or the final version? If it is the final version, it would shock me quite a bit, especially because most of spain is wasteland and north the danube river, up to siberia would also be a big mass of wasteland. I really hope this is not the final stage.

Probably it is just terra incognita

Agreed, it's just probably terra incognita, that looks like wastland in this game. But there is no way that the more romanized region of the Empire, birth place of many emperors, like its Iberia, is 80% wasteland.

Yeah EU Rome had quite a few provinces to colonise.

Uncolonized land makes no sense for this territory. There were even larger and more important tribes than the many small ones in Galicia.

The only posibilities are: Terra incognita or unfinished alpha map

So we can just hope for terra icognita or an alpha map. Uncolonized land in such important areas would n't be something approvable for me. Anyway, I wasn't a big friend of the amount of uncolonized land in EU Rome.

They might just have not built that part of the map fully. It is after all an alpha map.

It's either terra incognita or (unlikely) they haven't finished it yet. If you look carefully you can see lines inside the grey area where tribes extend beyond it, and in the Carpathians there's a great big grey outlined mass which is probably real wasteland. And I can't imagine that border in North Africa is entirely between wasteland and inhabited territory.

terra ingognita . carthage is supposed to share borders with cyrenaica too or fezzan .
also north africa look so skinny and gaetulians (supposed to be under mauretania and numidia) and many important ones are not in too .

reason why i think its terra incognita is that he is playing with tiny rome . having contact with only coastal iberia make sense .
not having contact with tribal desert peoples from africa also make sense .
malaca and castillia both have a shade of grey on top of them .
also the southen borders of massaesylia look weird like if there is something else that is supposed to share borders with it .

north dacia look like waste land but they have carpatian mountains showed separated from the rest of those grey lands so my guess is :
-nomades lands with tribes who follow the migratory mechanics of north american natives in eu4 .
or
-none colonised land
or
the map is still not complete and not all nations are in the game yet .


carpathian tribes are very important so i see no sense to make northern dacia a wasteland .

but i still think that the map is not complete or something like this .
thats 7000 provinces and the most detailed map ever so i dont think it will have such BIG holes of wastelands .

I think we can allow for an incomplete map in the first screenshots of the game. i mean it's still in such an early stage of development.

Definitely Terra Incognita, or else you wouldn't be seeing so many tribes on the map.
