Hello, I am making this thread to bring together a lot suggestions that are too small to be posts on their own. Some of these suggestions are taken from Babur's The Baburnama. I'm including fixing some of the Indian province names as they contain many outdated anglicizations of Indian city names, which are increasingly discouraged from use as cities assert the Indian Latin-script spellings. There are also some mispelled names.
1. Change the ruler of Khandesh's title from "Nawab" to "Khan" and its variants; Khandesh literally means "land of the khans" and was the title bestowed by the leader of Gujarat on the Khandesh rulers. Additionally, I think it just matches Khandesh's name and looks good.
2. Changing Lahore, Dipalpur, and Shorkot's religion to Sunni. Possibly Bhera as well, but Bhera's religion is debateable. Lahore and Dipalpur were mostly depopulated after being sacked by Muslims and Mongols (and Turko-Mongols). Additionally, Lahore's development should be reduced significantly from 23 to more around 12-15. After those aforementioned sackings, the city fell into obscurity. Babur documents the close relations between these three areas and southeastern Afghanistan; prior to Babur's conquest, the area of Margalla, Bhera, and Bannu were variably under the control of the Khokhars until 1519.
3. Although not necessarily relevant, Yashilkul should be Afghan culture due to Tajik predominance there... Although an actual Tajik culture is preferable.
4. Jalalabad should be renamed Nangarhar, with its capital being Adinapur. It did not become Jalalabad until after the Mughal Empire. Nangarhar is described in-depth in the Baburnama (The Kabul chapter). Adinapur fortress is prevelantly mentioned, so perhaps the starting fort in Peshawar should be moved there, but this is super minor.
5. Gazni should be renamed "Ghazni". There seems to be an h missing. "Ghazni is a truly miserable place. Why kings who hold Hindustan and Khurasan would ever make such a wretched place their capital has always been a source of amazement to me" (p.180/138b). Ghazni is certainly the Detroit of Afghanistan.
6. Quetta should be Afghan culture and (possibly) belong to Afghanistan. The majority of its population have been Pashtun. I think it may have been made Baluch because of its modern day integration with Pakistan, but I think this should not be the case. Quetta is a Pashtun name, and should also maybe be renamed "Kwatkot". It had been under local control of Pashtuns since the 1000s CE.
7. Baluchistan renamed to Makran, its ruler be Mir Shehaq Rind, and its capital be in Chabahar.
8. The Timurids should be Khorasani culture, not Uzbek. Uzbeks are a primary antagonist to the various Timurids states and their successors. Khorasan is described by Babur as a mainly Turkic (Turkish) and Aimaq grouping, so it should not be that controversial to do. Additionally, the Timurid states were effectively Persianate. This should apply to Ajam, Fars, Timurids, Afghanistan, and Transoxiana.
9. Junir renamed Junnar. I'm unsure where the spelling "Junir" comes from.
10. Kochin renamed to Kochi. Kochin is a different spelling of Cochin, which is an outdated British name for the city.
11. Renamed Khamammet to Khammam or Khammamett. Khamammet is a mispelling.
12. Chittagong renamed to Chattogram. Chattogram is the official name of the city, while Chittagong is a European exonym. Chattogram should perhaps also be Sunni religion; Ibn Battuta, writing in the mid-1300's, said of the area: "It was by [Sheikh Jalal-ad-Din Tabrizi]'s labor that the people of these mountains converted to Islam (p. 159)." This was 100 years prior to 1444, and the Muslim population of the area should have only increased. Despite the presence of Hindus being mentioned, they are said to also visit the Sufi shrines, even so. 1444 is about 200 years after the death of Tabrizi.
13. Lucknow should be renamed to Lakhnau. Lucknow is another outdated anglicization.
14. Cuttack should be renamed Kataka. Yet another outdated anglicization.
15. Goa should be renamed Govapuri. Goa was not founded until the time of the Bijapur Sultanate.
16. Arcot renamed to Aarkaadu.
17. Bijapur should have a dynamic name of Vijayapura for Vijayanagar. Bijapur is a Deccani version of the name.
18. The event, "The Mosque City of Khalifatabad" (ID: flavor_bng.3) should make the Sunderbans province Sunni as well. Khalifatabad/Bagerhat would also make a cool Indian Sultanate monument.
19. Gauda province's capital, currently Pandua, should also be renamed Gauda. Gauda and Pandua are both cities that were capitals of Bengal.
20. Koch and Koch Hajo (more evidence for Koch Hajo, however, as it includes more of the Meghalaya) should be animist religion. Koch itself should be renamed Kamatapur, have Assamese primary culture, and Assamese ideas. The current Bengali ideas seem very odd. The areas that are currently within Koch were largely Hindu-ized after 1500.
21. Bareily is mispelled. It should be Bareilly.
22. Mysore should be renamed Mysuru and its capital renamed the same; it is currently "Ummatur," which is incorrect.
23. Kashmir should be Sunni. Zain-ul-Abidin was Sunni, so it follows that should be the state religion. The province of Kashmir could also be Sunni, as many of the Hindus left the province under his reign, only for many to convert on their return.
24. Gilgit should be under Kashmir, as it was conquered by the grandfather of Zain-ul-Abidin, and pacified under him.
25. The ruler title of Mewat should be Raja or Wali, not Nawab.
26. The dynasty name of Tirhut is mispelled: it should be either Ainwar or Oiniwar, not Oinwara, which seems to mix the endonym "Oinivara" with these other spellings, but is still missing an "i".
27. The ruler of Jharkhand should be Maharaja Kirat Singh of the Narain dynasty.
28. The rulers of Dang and Rewa Kantha should both be Rajput. They are both Chauhans, as can be seen in their shared dynasty.
29. The province of Jangladesh should be renamed Bikaner. Jangladesh is a larger region (than the Jangladesh province) as well as the name of the Jangladesh tag.
30. Lower Doab should be named Prayagraj, as well as its capital. Allahabad was not founded until Mughal conquest.
31. Goraghat renamed to Ghoraghat. There is an h missing.
32. Satgaon renamed to Saptagram.
33. Add latent cores for the Sonargaon Sultanate to the provinces of Sonargaon, Chakla, Silhet, and Chittagong.
34. Bengal Delta renamed to Howrah or Betor.
35. Deogarh (in Damin province) renamed to Deoghar or Devaghar.
36. Jharkhand renamed to Palamu. Jharkhand is a larger region as well as the name of the tag.
37. Taj Mahal shouldn't require Central Doab to be Muslim for it to be built; it should only require Sunni/Shia state religion.
38. Junagarh is named wrong; the country should be named Junagadh. I believe this is a mixup with the Junagarh Fort in Bikaner.
39. Keonhjar is spelled wrong. It should either be Keonjhar, Kendujhar, or Kendujhargarh. Either way, the h is in the wrong spot.
40. Although not necessarily wrong, Gorkha should perhaps be renamed Gorkhali or Gurkha. The name Gurkha is more recognizable in the English world, at least when considering the prominence of them in the British military. Gorkhali takes the Gorkha name and ties it closer to the endonym, so either one may fit better.
41. Gingee (the tag and the province) should perhaps be renamed Jinji or Senji. While there are many names for this place, Jinji and Senji are clearer in their pronounciation. This is a very minor suggestion.
42. Tanjore (province and tag) renamed to Thanjavur.
43. Bahmanis should be renamed Bahmani or Bahmanids. Additionally, Bahmanis should also be Hanafi Sunni, not Shia. I believe the source for making the Bahmanis Shia may have been that they were Persianate in nature, but this does not mean Shia was the state religion. As the Bahmanids were close to the Tughlaq and Khalji dynasties, it makes sense that they would also follow the Hanafi school.
This is a giant mix of things, but if anyone has any other suggestions, they're welcome. I know more of Islamic history than Hindu history.
