Minor states of East Africa which i would like to see

I dont saw a screen of the reworked east Africa (Modern Eritrea, Ethiopia, Dschibouti and Somalia) yet, so i decided to grub through Wikipedia to find many interesting and exotic kingdoms which could be included. As you can see, East Africa was much more fragmented then just Ethiopia, Adal, Mogadishu and Ajuuraan:

Btw. I already wrote it some days ago, but just for remembering: The current seize of Makuria is not accurate.

I have seen Kaffa, Aussa, a couple Eritrean nations, a Djibouti nation, and several Somalian nations added, as well as our Makuria, and glimpses of Darfur and Senar(?) which might have been changed from the current Funj setup, I can't remember. As one of my personally favourite historical regions I am eagerly awaiting a direct mention/screenshot of it.

Well, most ones here are minor states, but i mean if they can add all the dwarf (city-) states Europe has they can add these ones too.

The most important ones are Caffa, Welayta, Showa, Damot and Warsangali.

It's not Senar, but Alodia, the last of the Christian Nubian kingdoms, which was replaced by Funj at the start of the 16th century. I assume that Alodia will have an event which will allow it to change to Funj...

I would rather see a funj horde invading Alodias lands. I am also hoping for the Abdallabs, which made some action even before the Funj

Yeah, I don't like either that they added 200 city-states in Europe. But if you look at them there are actually 2 patterns:

1. HRE mini states - the HRE is one of the main features of the game and they want to make it very detailed
2. cool mini states - Ragusa (merchant republic in the Ottoman sphere), Theodoro (Gothic state)

Everything else is there because it has to be: historically significant, culturally significant, future great power, source of conflict between great powers.

I'm afraid not, I've only seen them in passing in the livestreams. Someone might have screenshots but at the moment they're beyond me. Probably still work in progress considering the general state of what we've seen. (Aceh, never forget :laugh

We have only seen expanded horn of Africa (few more tags, definitely Makuria, Darfur and Eritrean states) and extremely briefly on a stream expanded Kongolese area (more terrain, 3 - 4 tags???).

We still don't know absolutely anything about non - Western Subsaharan Africa and I am a bit nervous about it.

- Eastern Coast and Swahilli states, Kilwa could be partitioned as well... We only know Ajuraan and Mogadishu get their own ideas here.

- details about area close to Ethiopia

- details about general area of Kongo

- personally I really hope we will get revamped provinces or maybe new tags in Mutapa (imho they deserve few more provinces around + NI set), Madagascar (colonizable?! there were - arguably small - kingdoms here since medieval!) and ESPECIALLY Lake Victoria (Buganda was one of the biggest Eastern African states!)

Other than that, arguably Southern Africa had no civilisations before European arrival. Namibia, Botswana and western SA were - and remain - extremely sparsely populated, Malawi/Mozambique/Zambia/central Kongo/Central Africa were basically terra incognita.

I think we will get an info about these areas in the last dev diary, along South America. SA has 19 tags now and Non Western Subsaharan Africa probably has like 10 - 20 new tags more.

Oh, and one more thing! I would love to create terra incognita somewhere in the south - western Africa (Namibian desert?) similarly to the north - western Africa in AOW: to prevent European armies from simply walking across the entire African coastline

Namibia is extremely sparsely populated, has extremely bad climate and extremely arid coast + the concept of European armies walking from South Africa straight to Kongo is IDIOTIC in the same way Europeans walking straight from Morocco to Mali are.

Thank you very much for the picture.

If this picture shows the 1444 startdate it includes some mistakes though. My impressions:
Kaffa is in, very good, but as i already wrote above, there was no Aussa until the 18. century, means 300 years after startdate. Ultra unhistorical.
Darfur seems fine to me.
Warsangali? Very good.
Geledi: Founded in the 17. century, so again very unhistorical.
And Funji again: Also unhistorical. But if i remember right, i saw Alodia in a stream once. So the questions are: How old is this pic and which startdate does it depict?

Edit: I see no Makuria north to Aldia, but only "NS", high likely for OttomaNS, so this is obviously a later startdate.

Can't say for sure but i suppose it's Portu since some letters indicates it's them

Ah thats a good quality pic.

So we got our Alodia, the to big Makuria, Ethiopia obviously, Kaffa, Adal, Warsangali and a small Eritrean minor which i cant read, also Marehan which i didnt know yet (And i dont find a source which confirm its existence in 1444, Wikipedia says 17. century). Seems like 10 of the nations i mentioned are not implemented yet.
