You dont need thesaurus to use common words like obliterate, wipe out, exterminate, raze, ruin, dismantle, eradicate, ravage and etc. It's creative and is easier to read.

Those tend to have significantly different connotations and implications. You've got complete genocide sitting side by side with plundering, destruction of cities, and putting Legos away (dismantle).
