FYI, here's an example of the cost to repair a badly damaged 'Mech (not even counting replacing weapons, etc.):
6iYExwJ.png

3EEbHKr.png

His change in expression when he sees this is priceless. The whole miner mission that damaged this 'Mech gave less C-Bills than repairing his spider which spent far too much time on the front lines for a scout 'Mech.

Important note: Observe the huge price difference between the CT that kept 1 point of structure and the 4 sections that were at 0 structure. That's why you want to run away before you start losing whole sections!

In contrast look at the relatively tiny cost to repair a couple limbs with only minor structure damage:

Yeah, the completely destroyed mech in the PDX stream cost a good deal more to repair than it cost to run the company for a month. You are definitely not going to be playing by the same rules you would in a skirmish match.

I've said it before, you're going to want to play a LOT more conservatively than what we got used to in the beta skirmish, we're going to use every bit of cover, and overlapping fields of fire, every tactical advantage, ignoring shots because we aren't in the best position, a LOT more flanking, and general better tactics....... or the cost is going to kill us to repair.

You also want to avoid injuries. 2 of 3 damage and pilots were out for a solid month. There is definitely a point where you pull people back at the very least.
Especially early on. Pilots have a high monthly cost, and you just can't afford many spares.

My plan for Iron Man mode (among other things) is to re-institute the rule that "no CT = no more mech, buy a new one." It was just too damn punishing for players who didn't want the challenge, but I am MORE than happy to put that back in for people who wanna roll some Darkest Dungeon type mech combat.

Great plan!

I wouldn't mind some Darkest Dungeon "Mechwarrior physical and emotional degradation" mechanics if possible...I mean, while we're at it. o_O

Since you're adding it anyway, could this be a toggle available outside of ironman mode?

I was surprised that the non destroyed CT took 5 days to repair and the destroyed LT took 6 days. Time is money after all. I missed the relative costs when I watched this.

We can still self impose permanent mech loss. You could repair it and sell for a slightly lesser hit. You could also leave the mech corpse in storage to remind you of your folly.

Atlas Corpse says "You really suck at this game. I can't believe you think you can beat this game on true Iron Man Mode."

Can we at least get a salvage component back? Just like an enemy mech getting CT Cored?

My Iron Man rule would be to bin any mech you lost on failed missions that requires an emergency e-vac. The time and material cost of rebuilding a downed mech is pretty close to buying a whole mech anyway so it's not that big a deal to keep a destroyed mech if you control the battlefield at the end.

SPOILER IN THE “SPOILER” BOX:
“Pretty close to buying a while Mech” ~ Not according to cKnoor’s stream today. IIRC for less than 300k, 2 Med Laser, 8 Jump Jets and 33-Days, an entire Spider was rebuilt from having been completely destroyed when a Leopard DropShip landed on it.

While that is expensive, the price was reasonable given the extent of the damage and 33-Days to repair a Mech from scratch seemed like a steal to me.

Can anyone confirm or deny this from Cohh’s stream earlier today?

It is very nice to use “Spoiler” boxes for what they were meant to provide us. : )

The cost that I found the most interesting was the cost of replacing armor... nothing!

I mean, obviously it's going to be cheaper than any other component on the mech, since that's what it's there for... but I figured they'd at least make us pay for the amount of damage we took.

Also, it would appear that the rule that the front and rear armor can't add up to more than double the structure has gone out the window. Presumably they didn't want the complexity of it.

Not accurate.

By the time he completed the mission, the Spider was still standing but had lost LA, LT, RA, RT, along with 8 small Jump Jets. To repair the destroyed sections and install the two spare Jump Jets he had in inventory cost him ~158k and 27 days. This was for an intact, but heavily damaged mech.

Im jelly, that guy is playing the game......who's PPC barrel did he fondle to get access to that?

But it looks fantastic, it really has gone back to the good old days of gaming, a nice intro, nice lore, an actual backstory that we are actually playing, an actual point and purpose to the game....its beautiful...I cant wait.

Its amazing to see the effort they actually put into this game.
