Whether or not giving edits to Sweden is justified, not giving them would be unfair to Gamla, since Daniel already benefited from such edits only a session ago.
In view of this, yes, Sweden *should* be edited.
But does this compromise the game balance? Of course it does. The same way the game was affected when France got the edits.
When a ruler follows another, he cannot undo what the previous one had done, so in this view, granting massive edits in a history-simulation game is a tad nonsensical.
The main thing to be taken into consideration here is: while trying to make the game more appealing to one player that we want to enter the game, there is the big risk of making the game severely unappealing for more than one of the other players of the game, that find their careful planning and investing can be matched or even surpassed by editing a save file.
I am sure that is the reason people vote against the proposed edits. While the first edit was inflation reduction, this second edit request is "5 percent deflation, NT to 18, infra to 6."
How could i approve of this? NL, for example, does not have infra 6, as a matter of fact nobody except Spain has it. How fair would it be to give this advantage to Sweden over the other nations? One does not get to choose the country one subs, and the lack of available players forces the GM's hand to granting the requested edits, just to have a player available for the nation in question.
But, i ask you again: how fair is this? One plays the game watching carefully the others' development, and estimating on their future progress by observing the stats. Foreknowing that Sweden would get this boost, for example, might have changed a lot in the political development, i hope you all agree with me on this.
Granting the edit will maybe secure a player for Sweden. But it will tremendously lower my game enjoyment, and i am certain i am not the only one. However, the decision lies with the GM(s) and i will do my best to respect it, no matter how unfair and unbalancing i might find it.
I only ask the others to voice their opinion on the matter.
