Overview

This is a small mod which changes a few country and sea entries in the game mostly for my own pleasure (i.e. there's no pretense of total consistency, or of having a map completely renamed with "correct" entries etc.).

The most notable change is with the name of important political actors during the game's timeframe - namely, the Holy Roman Empire, the Papacy, and the Byzantine Empire. All these names sounded too soulless to me (just like I thought, back then, that English names for Popes were immersion breaking), so I decided to change them to their Latin and Greek versions, respectively.

I've also changed a few other names around the map, mostly in Italy (probably because I live there) but even in some other places. In a couple of instances, I've simply corrected spelling errors (e.g. Forli->Forlì).
For a full change list, click on the spoiler box below.

Adriatic Sea - Mar Adriatico
Armeniacon - Armeniakon
Blachernae - Blakhernai
Byzantine Empire - Basileia ton Rhomaion
Castille - Castilla
Coast of Sardegna - Costa di Sardegna
Commacchio - Comacchio
Croatia - Hrvatska
Dyrrachion - Dyrrakhion
Florence - Firenze
Forli - Forlì
Greater Poland - Wielkopolska
Gulf of Venice - Golfo di Venezia
Holy Roman Empire - Sacrum Romanum Imperium
Holy Roman (adj) - Sacrum Romanum
Ionian Sea - Mar Ionio
Italy - Italia
Lesser Poland - Malopolska
Ligurian Sea - Mar Ligure
Lombardy - Longobardia
Poland - Polska
Rome - Roma
Sardinia - Sardegna
Strait of Messina - Stretto di Messina
Strait of Otranto - Stretto di Otranto
The Papacy - Sancta Ecclesia
Trent - Trento
Tyrrhenian Sea - Mar Tirreno
Tuscany - Toscana
Venice - Venezia
Viegvano - Vigevano

Installation

Simply download, extract and copy the content of this .rar file into your ...\My Documents\Paradox Interactive\Crusader Kings II\mod\ directory and check it in the launcher before you start the game.

Slightly more immersive localisation

The mod is updated for the latest CK2 patch (2.6.2) and should be Ironman-friendly as it doesn't alter the checksum.

Hope you'll like it - have fun!

Some screenshots (please note that the alternate font I'm using is not included in the mod, as it's not something I've done myself):

Thank you a lot! However, I think that this would be a tad too much... I never intended to do such an accurate translation; I just meant to rename some places which sounded too "modern" for my tastes (or simply odd to read in English rather than in their original language), that's all.

You are welcome :). Don't worry I'm a bit extremist concerning localisation :D.
