I recently started my first DW (5.1) game as Ming. I have a small question about the monthly change of faction influence, as indicated by the arrows and the value you get by hovering over the arrows.

How exactly is the change calculated? Is the change induced by events, e.g. Bureaucrat faction -6, not only a one time change but calculated into monthly change as well? I ask, because in my current situation the faction with most influence looses influence on a monthly basis and I don't really know why. I added a screenshot, so you get an overview of the situation and probably get a better grasp at my lack of understanding said situation.

Thanks in advance.

Event and decision bonusses and penalties are indeed one-shot affairs. However, the monarch and slider bonusses are not monthly, they determine the relative weight for each faction. If a faction has an influence lower or higher than that relative weight, it will increase or decrease accordingly.

In you screenshot, the combined weight of all three factions is 10. The Eunuchs, having a weight of 3, should gravitate to 3/10 * 100 = 30% influence total. At least, that is my understanding of the system. It seems that your screenshot deviates from my idea on how it works, so either I'm wrong or there is indeed some kind of bug.

But I'm reasonably sure that the slider/monarch modifiers are not monthly but determine relative strength compared to the other factions, in some way.

This. But the system is definitely buggy to an extent with how it handles fractional values. For instance 1/.75/.75 influence gains will go to 100/0/0 influence. With 3/3.xx/3.xx it could well end up at 33.3/33.3./33.3 (I don't think I ever got them that balanced in my games).
