Ok i know it might be a bit late to suggest thise but i'd like to see a "Mine System" mission in the mission sets, why cause seriously what commander lays mines in the middle of combat? NONE thats how many, no mine laying is done in preperation meaning BEFORE the enemy shows up on your door step. This is something i always hated about sots prime is that Mine layers dont get used much (least not by me or anyone els ei've played with) cause their not practical in the sense that they have to lay mines during combat. Mine layers are essentially a support ship menaing they are weak, thus get killed easily when doing their jobs.

Mine laying is something that Sins of a Solar empire did way better then Sots, because you build the mines as part of your base and place them in your gravity well. Sots should learn from this, make the mine layer a support ship like a colony ship and add a mine system mission to the mission list. Make it take several turns like any mission and have it cost money to plant the mines, but then when you engage in combat next there are mines scattered randomly over the system for your enemy to walk into. Or you could set it up so that you use the battle manager to place them like fleets.

Just an idea to make an underused tech more usefull utilizing the new mission system, im suprised its not there already. What do you guys think?

EDIT: you could also put a limitation to it so you can only mine your own systems to stop the spamming of mines in every system. Or add an upkeep cost to any mines that are placed.

You can build minefields pre combat. Just not with Minelayers. You design (dont know currently i am at workm, but i build them like mounths ago) build and deploy them via Battlemanager.

Where is your problem? The only problem i see that the game is so huge that NOBODY knows every feature...

Stop Raging start asking kindly!

I am not raging, im making suggestions and i use capital words to highlight. No i didnt know that later on you could get them, i cant get past turn 50 cause the game lags too much even on small maps. I will keep pumping research into the mine tree to see if i can find out how to place them pre-battle. If you could tell us what tech is needed before that then it would be helpfull.

1. Build a minelayer.
2. Go to battle manager.
3. Drag minelayer from reserves to system defense bar at bottom of screen. (must meet CP requirements)
4. Drag minefield from system defense bar at bottom of screen to location on system map. (node users particularly vunerable if placed near node entrances).
