Cities: Skylines - Industries Expansion Now Available
We're thrilled to let you know that players can pick up the most in-depth DLC in Cities history, build unique factories, and customize their industrial areas with supply chains for four different resource types. Synthetic Dawn Radio was also released today for $3.99, along with the free update.
Get Cities: Skylines Industries RIGHT NOW!

Mind your business! With Industries, well managed industry areas will level up and become more efficient. Along with production chains, there is a new city mail service, a cargo airport, FIVE new maps, new policies, new city services, new buildings and more.

Check out the tutorial series on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL4hR-M4rl7ucJI3bDPtChHATEuZaA13A3&disable_polymer=true

Coinciding with the Industries expansion, Cities: Skylines is also getting a new radio channel and a free content update. Synthetic Dawn Radio is the most far-out radio station to land in-game ever! It features 16 original new songs across four genres: 80s Electro, Vocoding Electro, Breakbeats and Futuristic Synths. The free update coming alongside Industries will introduce toll booths and road tolls, which will slow traffic, but generate income for the city. Players can also now designate historical buildings, and create custom name lists for citizens, districts and buildings!

The free patch adds 400MB, while how many RAM this DLC will eat? God I gotta rely on my 32GB virtual memory for DLC space and not for assets.

If your RAM space is limited just add more virtual memory.

Otherwise try to find a motherboard/laptop with more capacity for memory.

No need to complain about RAM space.

Dude you always complain about RAM, but I don't think you understand how minimum requirements work.
Cities has not increased their minimum requirements since launch, which means that every release that does not amend the specs (non have to date) they are guaranteed to work. That means if you have the correct cores, at the correct speeds, with the correct amount of available RAM and available HHD space, then you are Guaranteed the game will run on the lowest game settings with no additional content enabled.

If you do not have a good computer, you cannot have assets. If you have to rely on virtual memory then i suspect you do not have the minimum RAM available.

as an after thought - if you have only 4GB of RAM (As an example) then you do not meet minimum requirements as that is being used by other programs/OS. You need to check that once you have booted your computer and it's running with whatever programs are necessary for you to use it, that you have enough free space in your RAM, if you do not, you do not meet minimum requirements.
Ideally you should have at least 8GB of RAM installed on your PC, that way 4GB should be free for CS and you have another 4 for the OS and any other programs to run in.

The best example of this is the Consoles. PS4 has 8GB RAM and they are going to get all the DLCs once they've ported. So your argument is a little hard to find realistic.

I love this new release! I am a little confused why there is still different industry types for city districts? Are they needed for something like the locally grown and organic commercial zones?

I wish there was a way to see all my warehouses in a map detail view. Currently when I click to add a warehouse the traffic map shows up, and I have no idea where I put my other warehouses.

The old zoned specialisations are still there and still work like they always have. It's there for those who would like to still use them, the new industry areas are simply an addition to already existing features, so we have more options.

I had a look last night, and first impression is one of confusion.

We still have the "old" districts system where we can, for example, set "Forestry"... but this is completely separate from the "new" industrial districts which are required for any and all of the new pieces. So there is "forestry"....and then there is "a different forestry". Confusing.

I'll have to spend a bit more time with it, but it seems to me there is an unnecessary split here. Why, as an example, could we not have simply placed the new buildings in existing specialized districts?

Do we know if standard and DLC industries cross-pollinate at least? Will materials created in one be used by the other, or are the two systems truly separate?

Same here, really confused about how this was done. It could have easily been integrated into the existing districts system instead of having a weird separate section which does the same thing only being ploppable.
Also garbage and industry sharing the same tab doesn't make much sense to me.
Oil+Industry get depleted before you are even finished setting up the chains.
The only profitable thing seem to be the luxury goods?
How does extraction rate translate into barrels?
An explanation of the industry area graph showing the chain with arrows would be very helpful, I can't make heads or tails of this:
acquisition 0 barrels = 7 barrels of oil? that splits into 5 barrels + 5 tons? And 0 output of everyting in the end?

Also what are area bonuses?
Why do I get +16% efficiency?
Is pollution reducing my output by 40%? How do I prevent that?

Also toll booth doesn't work, I have hundreds of cars going through but it says 0 charged and there is no income shown in the budget panel.
Feels like playing an early access game right now, surely I must be missing something.
Thanks for any hints!

Spent some more time with it today. Nice idea, but the execution is asinine! The interface has become an absolute MESS. On the districts tab you have paint/erase district, and paint /erase industry area. Whats the difference? With "Districts" you go to the next tab over to define an industry specialization, or the next tab for commercial. With "Areas", you open a completely different tool to plunk down buildings which sort of turns the area into a district, but not really because the two are treated as completely separate entities (you can in fact end up with an industry district sitting right on top of an industry area!).

And why, for the love of all that is decent in this world, does it switch to the Industry Area info view whenever I go to place a field or factory? The info window obscures 1/4 of the screen and everything is paled out making it hard to see what you are doing.

Big big fan of the game. Happily spent coin on several DLCs for it, but I have to say: this time you really really screwed up CO.
