This thing keeps happening to me, and I'm just curious as to how many others are just as unlucky as me.

I have tons of cash, so naturally I build a lot of buildings around my nation. However, the thing that keeps happening to me is that, at the exact moment I click to place a building, in that minute millionth of a second, France asks me to join a war. Obviously, the decline button ALWAYS finds its way to exactly where I am clicking.

I currently have -200 relations with my otherwise exceptionally good ally. And this relations debuff NEVER goes away, as it's like -1,5 every millennium or so. In other words, I will never be able to ally France again for the rest of the game. Needless to say, this is quite... Unfortunate. France is the most powerful nation I can ally, and a much needed ally against the English scum and their minions, the Russians. Naturally, my natural ally who hates both these nations and sees them as enemies, Lithuania, is also my fierce rival and enemy because I have a province bordering them.

So.. How many games have been lost because of pure bad luck?

I will now probably change it so that these notifications never come as a pop-up.

Also, while I'm at it, I am somewhat annoyed that my close, much loved, and closely trusted allies will ALWAYS go from a Cordial relationship to breaking their alliance and rivaling me the very second we share a border. Am I alone in feeling this is somewhat outrageous? Is there a mod that fixes this?

It would also be rather super if we could have the now-pooping-up CTAs etc, actually PAUSABLE too... just for some UI consistency and hair preservation... as it is I may as well cover myself in Veet for Men and get rid of all that hair myself... :-/

I play almost entirely on speed 1. I don't understand how anyone stands to let the months roll by on 5 or even 3.

During peace time I tend to operate at 4 speed. I have it set to automatically pause the game whenever anything important happens, and I manually pause to construct buildings and the like. I usually drop it to 3 speed for easy wars and 2 for more serious encounters.

On the contrary from your point, I don't see how anyone can stand to let months of nothing at all creep by at 1 speed.

I have everything I consider even remotely important set to pause the game. I feel it helps with things like this.

I can't thank you enough for linking that.

Holy crap yes. I haven't laughed that hard in a while.

In EU3 i used to pause the game whenever i was doing something until i tried multiplayer and i started annoy people to the point where i had to make a new keyboard profile in windows. I moved the spacebar to another key and used that profile whenever i wanted to play. Nowadays i have moved back to default, since i have been threated from my bad habits. I just let it roll, unless i have lots of stuff that needs to be done. I have countless missclicks on events in my track record, but i just pretend its stuff that happens without reason or logic. It happens all the time IRL and it feels like i am wasting to much time if i have to pause to often.
