well i dont actually know if one is indeed better than the other.

Militia up's:

_ can move (as opposed to garrisons, who have to strat deploy)

_ are cheaper/faster to produce

_ with MP they have the same suppression rate of partisans

_ they take less TC and less MP to make

_ when given artillery they become at least versatile

Militia down's:

_ they suck at combat

_ slow moving

Garrison up's:

_ a bit lower on stats when compared to infantry

_ will last longer in combat than Militia, even if unbrigaded.

Garrison down's:

_ same MP cost as Infantry; in other words, a lot

_ cant move!

_ higher TC consumption

If someone disagrees with me please let me know. in my opinion brigaded militias or even unbrigaded ones are better than garrisons for the reasons stated above.

In IC+Arma there are no MP brigades, so GAR are necessary.
Militias are usefull when playing with specific nations and under certain conditions.

Every unit has its pro and cons, but there's no real need to use only one type instead of other.
In IC most brigades are usefull so that... an all-vanilla INF army like in Doomsday should become a distant memory forever...

OK, some units are better for specific jobs, but is any unit really useless?

I personally use only militia with MP brigades as Ger covering most of high IC provinces in France, and on eastern front I follow my main forces, and in emergency you can move them on coast line to support defenders on the coast.

I've been experimenting with 4 Militia 5 Inf armies and I have to say it works out really well. You can field so many more units and still get the same results. As Sov using this I can get over 400 divisions by 1941. The key is to always have more Inf in a formation than Militia. They serve as a meatshield while your Inf do all the damage.
