I think it was always included in the calculation but it wasn't shown. Discipline despite being very important doesn't appear anywhere in the battle screen.

You mean that number two above Tactics? Which shows their Discipline?

France has 115% discipline
6.9 Morale
2.8 Tactics. only 2.5 worth is from tech/base.

I think it has always been that way.

I find the situation of a Malaya fighting France in Adal hilarious though

I don't remember that being the case. Otherwise Discipline is a major booster, and not just for what it gives you.

And Adal is my March. Silly France dropped off their army in there for some random reason. Now they have no fleet. Neither does Portugal nor Castile. Malaya rules the waves.

edit:

@saegoto -- ah ok, must've missed the patch notes where discipline got given double duty. Now off to farm mass discipline to roflstomp the silly Euros with 5 tactics.

Ah, yes, my bad. Pretty tired right now.

I think this just a late UI update to reflect how discipline was changed to affect unit defense as well as offense. That is if I recall correctly that Military tactics affects only defense.

Plus, he's actually attacking France in the mountains. :)

well, 48 regiments vs 26 and they had no general vs. my Conquistador. The mountains weren't a factor due to them having no general.

I'm just wondering why they thought that was the best place to land a big force.

unrelated to that though, I've sunk more ships in this war than Europe can produce, and hit +25 on WS for controlling the target and have hurt the enemies on both land + navy, but there's no peace in sight. At 'best' I'll end up with the game sending it to a 'no win' war and forcing peace.

the 'alliance power' level should really consider navies - especially if the war is distant overseas! Not to mention that the naval battles don't count for WS or anything else.
