Military pops

Ok, I'm really tired of this. I've been playing Victoria/Ricktoria, and for all this time, the problem has gone unfixed. The AI mobilized nearly its entire population when it goes to war, I see most nations- at the bare minimum- convert 25% of their population to solders. By end game, its more like 80% of the country. They dont change them back to working pops, its just solders.

Countries like denmark, after a brief war, will keep an army at least 100k strong. Imagine what the fuck France or Italy have? Its ridiculous. Unifying Germany basically nets me a 30-40% solder population for my country, I mean, what is going on? This is a GLARING flaw, and yet no patch? No Ai changes? Is there anything I can do to stop this? Has anyone released a mod? Any hope at all? Because at it is, Victoria is basically unplayable.

In VIP we have background events that fire to revert POPs back to farmer/labourer if soldiers become the largest single group in the country, or military score reaches a certain amount, or the economy begins to go negative.

I sympathize with you. With Germany this problem is especially crippling because so many of your parties are jingoistic. In the last MP game I played I was stuck with 25%+ soldiers until around 1900 when I got a socialist party in power.

it's not a retail mod. It is a user-made mod similart to CORE for HoI and Magna Mundi for EU3.

Like MM and CORE, it is not a completed work, it is still in beta stage, but it does change a lot of elements in gameplay, adding new nations, cultures, religions, and lots and lots and lots of more events.

It's not perfect, but we're working on that.

Current version is VIP:R 0.2 for Victoria:Revolutions. We no longer support a version of VIP for pre-Revolutions Victoria. We suggest purchasing Revolutions, it vastly improves gameplay compared to original Victoria and for modding purposes adds so much content that VIP would not be where it is now had we stuck with old pre-Revolutions Victoria. For US$10, Revolutions is definitely an expansion worth the price.

I have nothing to do with the finacial cost

you get Revolutions from Gamersgate or, if you are in Europe, you can buy the hard disc version in the Victoria complete pack

As for VIP, it's a free user-made mod.

I don't think that's allowed, but that does bode well if OHgamer starts releasing source code mods for money
