Ya know I think I learned that once but forgot. That does make it slightly better. Do you make a full HQ structure for multiple branches? I get the impression that you really use the AI where I have yet to do any of that yet. It'd probably even out the difficulty and make combat less lopsided not that I've ever gotten out of the 1936-1939 period for very long before restarting.

Do you make a full HQ structure for multiple branches? I get the impression that you really use the AI where I have yet to do any of that yet.
I make a full structure for land units, plus one or two auxillary HQs for naval and air units that the AI doesn't handle well (strategic bombers, battle fleets).

I do use the AI to control most units. This way I don't have to micromanage them. I found HoI2 to be already too tedious in that regard. In HoI3 I can plan, set objectives, and then enjoy the show, only sometimes manually controlling an armored/marine/paratrooper corps.
