In the earlier days of EU4, you probably experienced a pain so great and dear you cried in dismay.

When you want military access to save some country's life, but they refuse because they don't like you. Or military access to fight their rival, or major threat to them, and they just will not consider that perhaps their hatred of you is less important.

This was fixed, eventually in EU4. It needs to be fixed in I;R as well.

TL;DR: if a nation (A) is expanding aggressively, then other nations around it should give mil access to nations at war with (A).

Description of problem
Military Access: one-sided
[...]
Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
Be at war with a nation that has been granted MA by a third country and you may end up with neither automatic MA (like in EU4) nor being able to ask for MA due to dislike by said third country. Your enemy walks in, grabs a city with all these nice side effects and just crosses the border laughing at you when you bump into an invisible wall... hope you're not trying to show us that border walls... aMIGA ;)

please fix this asap, it's terrible
do it as in EU4, where it works almost perfectly

I agree the current system needs some work but I always thought the EU4 system of auto MA was a little odd considering most countries tend to be a little touchy about their neighbors marching armies in their territory without permission.

Personally I think a good system would be the ability to DEMAND MA from anyone granting MA to your war enemies and threaten them with war if they refuse. Could make for some interesting wars.

Hello!

While this is indeed annoying in terms of design, it is not an outright bug, and thus more suited for the suggestion forum.

As @GAGA Extrem told me here's a copy of all posts so far.
Personally I find @Dragorne suggestion the most favorable.

I think the best one I had so far was playing as Syracusae when someone who'd just been brutalised by rome in an ally's war refused mil access to me when fighting rome due to dislike when they hated rome -200 or so

It's just nonsensical rn.

Not gonna lie, I have a love/hate relationship with the current system. Playing as a large power its definately annoying but I've been trying to make Sparta work recently and the only way I'm able to survive and expand is because Macedon can't get MA through all the little city states of Greece to get at me.

I could see having MA easy to get for large powers making it virtually impossible to play as a small nation near a large power, but if they had to declare war on a bunch of small nations just to get access they might end up biting off more than they can chew.

So after playing the game a little more I have a more refined version of how this "Demand MA" CB could work. I realize that at the moment you can declare a war without CB for essentially the same effect but I've been reading that they plan on changing up the stability mechanics which should hopefully make Superiority CB less of a favourable option.

1) You can only threaten people for MA that are granting MA to your war enemies. Have it cost like 50 oratory power so it's not free but still cheaper then just fabricating a claim.
2) The nation receiving the threat can either grant you military access, revoke military access to your enemies or refuse your demands altogether. Refusing grants you a temporary "Enforce MA" CB.
3) "Enforce MA" CB can't be used to take land, just enforce MA for a set amount of time (10-20 years?), take gold and maybe make tributaries. Since tributaries won't join their overlords wars and can't be integrated it won't cause any issues of spamming the MA CB for expansion.

They will auto decline if you just ignore the notification for a couple months but I do agree it can be a bit much. I think it's mostly a byproduct of being surrounded by small nations

@1: scale it depending on who is asking whom. You would send a larger delegation (oratory) to a more influential country than every tiny tribe.
