Okay, this is like de 7th time I try. The last time I played until 1949, and just missed one territory (Franche-Comte), but I still don't understand it.
I'm playing Historical, because con-hist is too unpredictable. I'm trying to not give land to Germany, so I always go to war against Axis first.
Managed to follow that left focus tree, also rush fighter 2, in order to hold Germany and Italy until allies and soviets arrive.
Accepeted invitation to join Commitern.
Finished war against Germany and Italy and got the territories I needed from them. (I puppeted Germany, and Soviets puppeted Italy)
Some months later I declared war against allies, in order to get the rest of land that I needed, from England and France.
After years of war, I finally beat USA and England. 40% or so war score.

The thing is in peace conference French territories were not available for the taking!!! (?????):
Southern territories (what was supposed to be Vichy, if axis had capitulated France) belonged to "Bourbon France" (When I capitulated France, for some reason this country appeared, but as Germany's puppet (I did not even knew that puppets could have their own puppets).
Northern territories, that were occupied by me during the war (and where Franche-Comte is located), appeared as "French Comune", a country that didn't even exist in that game.
I got Palestine and Jordan from UK, but I couldn't claim anything from France!!
So now peace conference is over, its 1948, Bourbon France is my ally, and to declare war on them would drag soviet, poland and entire world in another war. I might as well start over. Again.

But, what did I do wrong? Can anyone clarify that for me? Am I supposed to give land to Germany and fight allies first?? Should I not accept faction invitations, nor puppet Germany? ??? Any tips?

Don't join factions as a general rule of thumb - people outside of your faction have a lot harder time sniping states from you during the peace conference.

Bourbon france appearing sounds odd, Germany shouldn't be able to puppet the non-aligned version of Vichy France if they've already puppeted France earlier. Check to see who has puppeted them, if it's your puppet then I guess your best bet is to leave Comintern and see if they follow.

Commune of france is probably a product of Soviet Activity. Either that or they turned communist in exile. Communists and Fascists can puppet countries they're occupying but not a war with (Aka poland in most games), and I'm guessing the USSR managed to puppet or flip France that way.

Send screenshots of your game and I think people will be able to help you better

But did they puppet France earlier already?
It seem he as neutral Austria-Hungary hold of Germany, when Allied joined they also held their line, and when Soviet joined they defeated Germany together.
Then he puppeted Germany, which made them neutral aswell.
When then Germany, or the faction of Germany held Paris the Offer Peace Event fired for the first time, and France offered the "Vichy" Event, which just spawned Bourbon France because Germany, and so with that Vichy became neutral aswell.

I don't think the surrender event checks if Germany is a subject or not.

For clarification this was the troubled timeline:

- After denying what the asked (Sudetenland if I remember correct), Germany declared war on me.
- Italy joins Germany and declares on me.
- Germany invades Poland and starts ww2. France and England join, but Germany never gets to fully control Poland, nor break/bypass maginot line (France don't capitulate in this war)
- Poland joins Commitern and invites soviets to war.
- When I start to lose the mountains for Germany and Italy, soviets invite me to Commitern and I accept.
- After Axis (Germany/Italy + some minors) defeat, I puppeted Germany, and soviets puppeted Italy.
- I declare war on France (Germany was still my puppet).
- France capitulates. Automatically, Southern territories turned bourbon france (neutral), and became a puppet of my puppet (Germany). Northern territories (that I just had conquered as well) became occupied by my puppet (Germany), then I ask for their control and they gave me.
- Won the war against allies (Japan conquered asia, but the hard work invading UK and USA was done by me. 40% war score).
- In the peace conference, French territories were not available for the taking. After I end the conference, all of mainland France goes to bourbon france (my puppets' puppet).

Ill attach some screenshots that I manage to take prior the last peace conference:

Since France was in your faction and on the winning side, you can't take territory from them. They keep all their cores.

Btw just to make sure, as far as I can tell you don't have the DLC La Resistance, since France became a puppet, instead of neutral guaranteed nation.

You can still kick Germany from the faction and declare war on them again to get France.

I just got LaRes, and I'm starting again, doing the same strategy (war on Axis first, then war on allies), but not joining any factions.
