A lot of people seem to have problems with how the game selects the pops that grow in your empire.
I'm not a fan myself but if you disable migration for all species and only colonize planets with the pops you want there things can work out ok. It works with two 2 species(a specialist species and slaves) on a planet too if you use resettlement.

For most of this game only the Tebir had migration rights and I used them to colonize most planets(I rushed a DA neighbor and I really liked those cyborg/strong/industrious pops).
Now the only species with migration rights are the Rackets and they are currently growing on most of my planets as I want some psionic cyborg governors.
My main species are the Iwor which only live on the homeworld and a research world at this point.
Ignore the machines I just integrated a machine empire.

However there is one problem. Migration treaties bypass migration controls.
This makes sense in a way because one-sided migration treaties used to be possible at one point and with the current version you would just get a pop-growth bonus from such a treaty with no downsides because AI planets tend to have lots of unemployment and lack of housing.

I think migration control only applies to pops in your empire not to "pops coming to your empire"
and empires that want to give away unemployed pops make sense since they cause crime and benefit nothing.
if I understood everything correctly I dont see a problem
but reducing their rights should make pops do not desire to come your planets(tourists dont like to become slave :D)

I have seen quite a few posts complaining about the fact the you can't prevent minorities from growing on planets they do not already live on.
I just wanted to post that you can with every empire type even if you have no access to population controls.

On a sidenote there is actually not a single Amaranthi pop in my empire. The screenshot is from the galaxy view. The option is there it just does nothing and nothing informs you about it.
Population controls might work I have not tested that.

That's quite some added micro. Particularly when you have specific species you want growing in specific planets. Or have more than one species already present for any reason in the planet. Then you need to restrict on the planet level and not only do you get a growth penalty for that but your selection does not even stay permanently. If growth stops for some reason (temp overcrowding for instance) your selection gets reset and you have to do it again. Which means... more micro.

Well 2.2 is micro hell I won't disagree.
I resettle pops instead of using pop controls though.

Migration treaty cancellation seems to be bugged as remain stuck with intiially tiny minority being the only ones growing but with the original treaty cancelled. Given the growth rate the found species must have been having alien babies. looks compltely bugged to me. It causd me to stop game as alignment conflict did not work.
