I know that you can't simply take some people and move them into the colonies, but soldiers can be transfered to new location, it happened and happens today, this may look unimportant, but a large group of soldiers living in a place will, with time, change the composition of etnics in that place, as they get married and have childrens with the locals.
This is very importan in provinces with low native population (some places in africa for example) were a few soldiers moved there could change the etnic of the province and soldier's etnia would become an importan part, if enougth soldiers are moved they may even become mayority.

PD.: please excuse me if i've made some mistake, my english isn't very good.

any idea for a direct yet realistic way of migrating your pops to your colonies is welcome. i doubt that your idea will work though, as soldier pops are linked to their home provinces. even making them consider moving there as a first priority when they are considering migration is a hard idea to implement.

I can see this easily exploited to move massive numbers of people in as short a time as possible to a foreign land to get the majority population there being of your culture. This used to mean it would become a state and would allow you to build factories, and even have an easy time with pop assimilation and turning most, or all, of a provence into your culture.

I really like the idea for how it could be exploited, but I'm sure it would feel wrong historically...You know, after you've "converted" most of Africa to Frenchmen. :p

That was probably my most memorable achievement in V1. Turning all of Africa Italian... and getting almost the population of China in the process. Had to force migrate most of the population to highest life rating provinces and have best healthcare from day 1 then wait until 1905 to claim any colonies but... was worth it.

Still while many cities and such started on the sites of former garrisons and often the soldiers did marry into the population I'm not sure the numbers are large enough to justify a mechanic just for that when it is so easy to potentially exploit.

given the size and population of most provinces in the colonial world, not really.

In provinces with low population is very important, arrival of a few soldiers could dramatically change the cultural composition of that place, besides, its more realistic that wen you move a soldier the POP that represent him should move to that province, teleportation is sci-fi!!!
