"Today my friends, it's the new year. Today my friends, I would like to thank each of you for the all the devotion and the loyalty that you show to your country. Wath you are doing here prevents the danger reaches our homeland. You are the best of us and everyone at home trusts you. Today my friends, everybody in our country, from the Rio Grande to Chiapas, from the Atlantic to the Pacific, from the tallest tower of Mexico City to the smallest home of Veracruz, everybody shouts at you: ¡viva México. Happy New Year 2016 from all of us!"
- Extract from the New Year's speech of Maximilian II, Emperor of all the Mexicans, January 1st 2016 -

Hi, I'm TheRemQc and this is my first attempt to make an AAR. I'm playing Paradox games since a couple of years but I'm new on the forum. I apologize for my average spelling, English is not my first language. But I hope this AAR will help me practice it. I'm using the The Bonaparte Legacy Mod, it's a very interesting mod that is unfortunately no longer updated. I had the idea of making an AAR after I added myself some custom events to enrich my gameplay. So here I am, I hope you will enjoy it. I will do it mostly in a report-style posts with some biography or character point of view posts here and there with an update every time I can.

Awesome! Please stick it to the snobby red gringos in the USSA!

TBL needs more love
I know, right? Now that I think about it, I would do a Napoleonic French Empire AAR, but it would just end up being way too much like NS Germany in vanilla.

Excellent, a Bonaparte Legacy AAR! Very good luck to you!

Nice; TBL needs more love. Also, congratulations on picking the noble Monarchists, instead of the vile Republican Reds!

In BP, The Empire is still the same one since Maximillian's rule.

Wasn't it Royalist France that takes the place of Nazi Germany?

Well, they're Nazi, but yes with a King.

Thank you all for your support! I know I said there would be an update on Fridays but given that my last post was only an introduction, I will post the first chapter about the international situation in advance, next week I will start stalking about Mexico.

Chapter One: The World in 1936

For those of you who do not quite know their history, I will make a little brainstorm on how our world looked like 80 years ago. Let's start with Europe.
qDk5Wn.png

In 1936 Europe is boiling, defeated France is seeking revenge upon his deadly enemies, Germany and United Kingdom. The climate of revenge pushed French people to put their fate in the hands of the Front National-Socialiste, a far right wing party that restored the French monarchy in 1934 after the death of President Pétain. On the eastern side of the French border, newly formed Germany enjoy his victory during the Great War. This victory has allowed the Bismarck's dream of a united Germany to become true in July 1918. Under the rule of the Kaiser, German peoples knows they are facing a deadly menace, surrounded by France in the west and the mighty Russian red bear in the East. The little buffer state of Poland will not stop the Red Army if the war break out but Germany know that his old ally, the United Kingdom is keeping an eye on the situation and will always be there to support the Empire.
Txv9HG.png

The other big powder keg in Europe is (oh! big surprise...) the Balkans. The Ottoman rule over Thrace and it's surrounding areas is highly contested by Greece, Bulagria and Serbia. Since a couple of year, rumors of a united military front between the three power are growing but who knows what's comming? What is certain is that the Turkish leaders are fearing the possibility of this alliance because they know perfectly that they Ottoman's Army is not ready to face three countries at the same time.
D7WpzR.png

In Asia, the fascist government of China has succeeded to unite Chinese people unded one flag, not a little achievement knowing that most of the inhabitants of theses lands where, at the time, most loyal to their warlords than to the central governement. Meanwhile in Japan, the leaders are trying to expand their economy and their trade relations with their neighbours to offset the lack of raw materials the country is facing. Those neighbours are Spain with his colonial possesions in Philipines and northen Borneo; Netherlands with the East Indies; Australia; Korea and, of course, Dominion of India.
MRghNC.png

On the other side of the Atlantic, the new world is divided. South American coutries are ready to go to war; the Empire of Brazil has four dreadnought battleships, Argentine Republic has two and fascist Chile who is seeking to retake the loss territories of the War of the Pacific has one. Peru-Bolivia is looking upon Ecuator to take the land they claim to be theirs and the Empire of Mexico is shaken by speaches about the class struggle.
zpvyFI.png

Up north, America's divided house is standing for better and for worse. The Union has fallen under the rule of the Socialism in 1933 after the London Stock Market crash of 1929. To secure their borders Canada and CSA have take control of New England, Alaska and Missouri, provoking a wave of discontent among the Yankees. After the emancipation of all slaves within Confederate borders in 1884, the Dixie government has put in place a policy of industrialization that, despite having relative success, did failed to close the gap between CSA and USSA industrial capacity. But America is sandwiched between Dominion of Canada and the Confederate Sates. Can the USSA survive to a simultaneous strike from the northen stromtroopers and the southern bushwackers? Only God knows.

I wonder how warm or cold the relations between Imperial Mexico and Confederacy are. Both were supported by European powers during War of Northern Aggression and Yanks also always supported Mexican Republican rebels against legitimate monarchy, so maybe there could be some kind of traditional friendship?

They're pretty cozy from what I remember of the mod, if for no other reason than a common enemy neither of them could deal with on their own.

For the record...

From the vibe I get with TBL's Mexico, it's more of a Constitutional Monarchy. Taking into consideration the liberal views of the first emperor (or second, if you count Augustin I's First Empire), Maximiliano I, he would've at least supported a liberal monarchy, albeit one that still maintains some degree of conservative values (like Catholicism is still the state religion, and all that.)

I guess we'll need the next update to know
