Metro under river

I hope this wasn't asked before (searched the forum, but couldn't find anything):
I failed to build a metro connection under a river to a part of my city, that is situated on an island. Did I do something wrong or is it just not possible?

The problem is that the river is too deep - The riverbed has to be higher than the metro tunnel layer.

So yeah - I suggest you make a quicksave and try to drag out metro tunnels back and forth along the river to see where you can find a suitable spot.

On the bright side at least metro trains will drive backwards and turn sharp corners - If we had to make realistic rails down there, I'd just forget about Metros completely on my current map that is riddled with deep, tiny rivers.
