Can be done. Slovakian is a little bit different but I think I can manage. But you'll have to wait for my university exams to finish as I have no time right now.

DEN;0;Livgarden Division*
DEN;0;Dronningens Livdivision*

Perhaps I'm wrong, but it sounds like you were trying to sneak in regiments as divisions. Why not call them ahistorical divisions made up of whatever troops these were historically. After all, something nasty is going down if Denmark ever makes so many divisions...

First of all I'd better have to teach how to order a beer in Danish should you choose to visit this fair country...:) One Beer,Thank You = Een Øl,tak....:D

No I (we) didn't try to sneak in some regiments as divisions.I'm afraid that I didn't have the proper language to try and say why we removed the divison applied to the 3 names in question.

1)Historical reasons
2)It sounds very silly in Danish... :)

after a brief telephone meeting we have come up with this alternative:

DEN;0;Prinsens 1.Livgarde*
DEN;0;Livgardens 1.Division*
DEN;0;Dronningens 1.Livgarde*

It will probably never come in use as Denmark most certainly won't build that many division...but it looks nicer.....

NOR;3;1. Mekaniserete Infanteri Divisjon*
NOR;5;1. Fallskjermsjægere Divisjon*
NOR;7;1. Fjelljægere Divisjon*

Now this is the BIG error, although Tordenskjold(Peter Wessel) was born in Bergen,it was by Danish parents and he was Danish(in fact he had such a haste to come Copenhagen it was almost embarrasing..:) And yes although it is a part of the everongoing friendly teasing between the 3 Scandinavian countries to claim that he was Norwegian...it is fairly surely that Norway would never name a ship Tordenskiold as this was his Danish nobility title.I doubt they would even name a ship Peter Wessel, but it is a possibility and therefor you should replace Tordenskjold with Peter Wessel.:D

Oh, another Liberty ship name for you.... Henry J. Kaiser. Among other things (Kaiser Steel, Kaiser Healthcare) he was also the owner of Kaiser Shipyards and I think had a hand in the Liberty design process. IIRC, one of the first Libertys was named after him...

Also USS Reprisal might also work as a CV; according to the Navy website a CV with this name was orignally planned - a hull number even set aside for it - but was cancelled in early construction at the end of the war.

Just shows that one should not enter into a language which aren't ones own:D But lets not start a new Greater Nordic war over Tordenskiold, although it did surprise me that that the Norwegian Fleet has a ship named Tordenskiold.Academically however he is Danish since Norway was a part of Denmark. and hmmmm actually he left his descendants (official as unofficial) all over the monarchy:D

Oh... I see the second Lincoln now, the 'Lincoln Victory'. Makes more sense to me than the two Grants because in this case it falls more into the category with the placenames (like 'Amherst Victory' and 'Vassar Victory'), and therefore isn't *directly* named after the same thing. Lincoln is a very common placename, especially in the West (because it was settled after his time). 'U.S. Grant' and 'President Grant' - while they may both have existed - just sounds redundant.

P.S. IIRC the ' - Victory' ships were of a later, larger design similar to the Liberty ship (called of course the Victory ship). (I'm also not sure but the Kaiser I mentioned earlier may have een one of these instead). In order to represent this, perhaps those names should be filtered out and moved to the end of the list.

Oh, and the Norwegian navy have a ship named KNM Tordenskjold. It's now the main weapon shool for the navy.

I thought that might have been where I came up with the name. I think a good deal of my Norwegian CV/BB/CA list is present day Norwegian ships.

Edit: I just came across this again while doing other research. This is where I got the idea (it was a real WWII era Cruiser): CA Tordenskjold Link

Edit 2: also should all Norwegian cap ships have the KNM label (KNM Tordenskjold, KMN Narvik, etc)? Do the Danes or Swedish (or anyone else I've missed) have such a label. We have them so far for those countries that should (US, UK, and Commonwealth), so if the Scandinavians do too we should include it (if they used the labels in WWII, of course).

I'll redo Norway again. Oh, and before we have another intra-Scandanavian war over this stuff, are there any Swedes around? How about a Swedish list? Hmmmmm?

Here are some Swedish unitnames. AFAIK the Swedish army during WW2 was never organized into divisions, but rather into MILO:s (Military Areas) each consisting of 7-10 regiments. However, this is how I would name the "divisions":

Army

1st Infantry Div. = 1. Infanteridivisionen
1st Cavalry Div. = 1. Kavalleridivisionen
1st Armored Div. = 1. Pansardivisionen
1st Mech. Inf. Div. = 1. Mekaniserade Infanteridivisionen
1st Mot. Inf. Div. = 1. Motoriserade Infanteridivisionen
1st Mountaineer Div. = 1. Fjälljägardivisionen
1st Marine Div. = 1. Kustjägardivisionen
1st Airborne Div. = 1. Fallskärmsjägardivisionen

Navy

1st Destroyer Flotilla = 1. Jagarflottiljen
1st Submarine Flotilla = 1. Ubåtsflottiljen
1st Transport Flotilla = 1. Transportflottiljen

Air Force

1st Air Group = 1. Flygflottiljen

Guinnessmonkey, I think you've mixed up the Swedish and Norwegan names for the infantry divisions.
The Swedish names should be:

SWE;0;1. Infanteridivisionen
SWE;0;2. Infanteridivisionen
...

Also, I believe the Norwegan unitnames should be compounds like the Swedish ones, i.e. :

NOR;0;1. Infanteridivisjon

instead of:

NOR;0;1. Infanteri Divisjon

Did you try a Right-click, "save as" approach?

Why is it that when I go to "replace" the * with nothing it deletes the whole list? I tried just "find next" with * and Excel seemed to think every entry had one - even those that dont. Let alone trying to rid the Austrian list of all those (Osterreich)* after EVERY title... like someones not gonna know the unit with an Austrian flag is Austrian... SUCK IT!

Thank you, come again!

I have not had any problems doing the find and replace in Excel, but maybe you need to use a simpler program, like wordpad to get your desired changes into the file. Just select all, copy, paste in Wordpad, do your find/replace, select all, copy and paste over the already selected Excell files that you selected to copy earlier.
