I need some militia units, MP was used in occupational duties in Macedonia as was State police and Broder police, Kontracete is Macedonian paramilitary formation formed by Bulgarian authorities to help with occupational tasks.

MP were not used (they were too few in numbers), however in early 1944 a special antipartisan unit called Jandarmerija (Gendermerie) was formed. Maybe you are referring to them. The State police of course did participate in the Anti-partisan actions, however I've never heard of Contracete. Anyway with this list you now have more than enough Militia units, who undeniably fought the Partisans in Macedonia and Serbia.

I´m new in this, but I wanted to contribute what I can, I think you guys are doing an outstanding job!
I´ve seen you need some help with Spanish names and OOBs. I´m a historian, I´ve done my military service, and half my family is in the military, so I could help with Spanish names and OOBs, both Nationalist and Republican, I´m afraid I will be of less help with Spanish American armies, other than with spelling itself.
I´m useless in the "technical" department, but if anybody is interested in "documentation", just ask!

At this point the tread isn't really what matters. Check the unitnames download in my sig. We've had a German list for months. At this point you can (feel free to) search for one's we've missed but we've already got just about every historical and planned unit and in the order they were built. We've got units at this point for everyone except:

There are a few countries that we only have a generic list for (most Spanish-speaking countries). If you wanna help it would be great for you to either help out on one of the above countries or to help flesh out one of the generic lists.

At this point the German list has just about been beaten into the ground... If our list is missing something you can let me know but otherwise I think it's just about wrapped up... I wish I had caught you before you did all that work....

Ok, unless I'm missing anything, I need to make the renamed (not redone... that's for other threads. ) .inc's for
Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, and Argentina. I might be able to do that tonight... Either way any help would be appreciated.

I'll be editing off 1.04 versions for all of them except Bulgaria '36, which is off the .inc included in the unitnames download... Let me know if you want to help out a busy Guinnessmonkey.

Edit: also Czechoslovakia has a '36 .inc in the download, but I'm not sure that it matters... I think that .inc only has the addition of the generic Czech unitnames list...

Btw... i don't know if those IDs are ok. I think they are.

Now... after you start a game, for some reason the ai moves the Naval Bomber unit inland (to Cordoba i think). Weird... since it should stay in a coastal province.

The chosen OOB took accout the playability, rather than the historical placement of the units. In fact, the two pre-war armor units weren't located in Buenos Aires, but in (HoI geography) Mar del Plata and Corrientes. The two Mountain Inf units ewre located in Mendoza and San Martin de los Andes, not in Cordoba. Anyway they were near from the 2 provinces that the default HoI install uses to garrison the starting ARG units.

Also notice that the ARG ai unit building trend shows focus in infantry units mostly, reason why fake names (those with * ) will appear quickly in ARG inf divisions.

I will post the 1939 and 1941 incs tomorrow, hopfully.

Also, now that I take another look at it... Is it really fair to give Argentina two Armored divisions in 1936? There aren't a whole lot of nations with HOI level Armor divisions at that time... Perhaps combine them into one? They are listed as a "Brigade", after all... I am coming from a position of complete ignorance regarding Argentine capabilities at that time, but still...

Alltogether I'll admit a degree of squeamishness to adding in an Argentine list with Brigades instead of divisions... usually the policy has been that if a country didn't used division sized units in real life to ahistorically combine units into one division sized group. If there is a way to do this I'd much appreciate it... if not I can't say it will make me cry or anything... I just think most players won't like seeing their full strength division get overrun by a full strength brigade...

Some of the Luftwaffen-Feld divisions you list are already included as militia. Now that I think about it, however, I'll just put them alltogether in both lists. I think that area of the German list was made before we realized that HOI won't repeat names from other unit-categories.

As to most of these other suggestions: some have some merit, others represent debates long (IMHO) dead. Indeed these units did exist in the German army at some point but most of them were later combined to form other units already included in the list or renamed as such. The German list was very hard to create if only because the Germans were very, very wierd with their units. They were constantly shifting them and renaming them (particularly the SS Panzer units, who seem to have been all Mot. Inf., Mech, and then panzer units). I made the decision (for good or ill) a long time ago that I would rather see SS Panzer units labeled as so then have a neutral named divisions that can show up as either Mot, Mech, or Panzer. (a couple weren't avoidable, such as the '39 scenario's including a SS-Leibstandarte as a Mot inf division.... It necessitated a namechange) Either way I will not have a situation where in the name of flavor we end up with 3 different SS-Das Reich divisions.

It's times like this that I wish unitnames had it's own forum, then I could sticky up an announcement explaining my policies on more German units......

At this point I only want to reopen the German can-o-worms if people claim to be actually running out of German infantry (or whatever) unitnames. Then I'll (what the hell) just throw all those reserve and grenedier divisions onto the end of the list... Till then I'm not convinced they belong at all.

You're kidding me, right? I made that unit up and a German said it didn't look stupid so we kept it. Are you thinking of the other Marine divisions the Germans had (the one's made out of ex-Kriegsmarine personnel)?

Following the email, this is what i suggest as unit names for ARG in case you are concerned about unit sizes. With the exception of the four Inf. Division i have found they may have existed by 1936, all the other info i have is about brigade names. So what i do is to use standard names then for the divisions and in the OOB i will consider 2 to 3 brigades as 1 division... probably making one of the 4th inf. divisions a motorised one, although in fact all the inf. units were motorised by 1936.

Notice that i have found that the location of the 2nd Inf. Division was in Santa Fe, but since there wasn't 3 corps in 1936 i prefer to base it in Buenos Aires. Notice also that none of them was put as motorised, although they were. And idea: to reflect the fact that argentine units were fully motorized by 1936, we can do it by adding the corresponding technology.

The Mountain Division contains the 2 Mountain Brigades (which weren't based in Cordoba, but oh well... never mind). Its strenght was reduced to 65 to reproduce the size of the 2 brigades. 3 brogades would make a 100 strenght.

The Armored Division contains the 2 Armored Brigades, but with their strenght reduced to 65. Their true location were Sante Fe and Mar del Plata (considering HoI's geography), but for the sake of historical organization in no more than 3 corps (they were less than 3 in 1936... 1 or 2) i have based them in Buenos Aires.

The choice of extras (artillery, engineer, antiair) was done to reflect existent artillery groups, engineer subunits, etc..

I hope this time we achieve a more balanced result.

the thing that there are 3 'Das Reich' Div. is... ahhh.... there also existed 2 'Nederland' Divisions:

So there are also existet more than one 'Das Reich' divisions: one Infantry one Panzer and perhaps one mech. Infantry

for example think there is a 'Das Reich' Korps and the Divisions are part of it (so i understand)
